"Logan, I need to talk to you."

"I have nothing to say to you."

Aaron turned to Harold. "Can you give us a minute?"

Aaron grabbed his arm and pulled him into an empty room. Logan yanked his arm away from his hold the instant they were alone.

"You told me they would be safe."

"Logan, I know you're scared but we can't just give him what he wants."

"You told me that he couldn't get to them." Logan emphasized each word with a quick jab of his index finger to his chest.

"You told me that you trust me."

"I trusted you to keep my family safe."

"Logan, you promised you wouldn't put any blame on me. It's not my fault."

"Just get my family back, safe and sound. Or I'll go to Dirk myself."

Logan walked out the door without a backward glance. Aaron run a hand through his hair with a sigh.

The door opened but he didn't turn to see who had entered.

"He doesn't mean it. He's just scared."

"When he found out about my undercover job, he stopped talking to me. And it hurts to know that he's pushing me away again."

Kyle strode closer to him and wrapped his arms around him in comfort.

"Give him time."

"I'm tired Kyle. I don't want to create any rift between us."

"I'll talk to him."

Aaron pulled away and gave him a smile. Regardless of Logan blaming him, he still had a job to do.

"Let's just get this over with."

"Don't get hurt."

"I won't."

"I mean it Aaron."

"You'll be there to protect me."

Kyle stared at him then at the door for a second before kissing him. He didn't push him away at first, but when Kyle wanted to deepen the kiss, Aaron had to stop him.

"It felt like ages since I last kissed you."

Aaron rolled his eyes. "It wasn't that long. Come on, I don't want Harold to get impatient."

At the door Aaron's phone rang. He pulled it from his pocket and glanced at the screen.

"I need to take this." He told Kyle.

"Don't take too long." Kyle said before leaving him alone.

"Hi, mom."

"How are you doing baby?"

"I'm good. I'm at work."

"I'm just calling to let you know that we will be passing by to see you tomorrow."

"I can't wait to see you guys. I've missed you."

"Aaron, what's wrong with you?"

Damn, he forgot his mom could tell when something was wrong with him.

"I'm just tired mom."

Aaron looked up when he heard tapping on the door. He held up a finger at Kyle.

"Make sure to rest yourself. I don't want you overworking."

"Mom, I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow. I love you."

"I love you too, honey."

Aaron ended the call then entered the room. He walked over to stand next to Kyle. He would give Logan his space for now.

It was almost two hours before every cop in the room was a hundred percent apprised of the plan. He watched Kyle walked out with Logan but stayed behind after the briefing.

"When I met you years ago, you were this terrified little boy. You clung onto me and wouldn't let go. I vowed to always protect you. Logan seems like a good person. But no matter how good a person he is, he better not hurt you."

With those words, Harold patted him on his shoulder then left the room.

A prolonged and general silence followed. Aaron glanced down at his hands for a minute then got up. He exited the room, making a left instead of a right. He paused in front of a door, turning his head to look right.

With a decision in mind, he pushed the door inward and entered the room where they stored their tactical gears. Once he was dressed, he took the stairway of the building to the ground floor. He strode over to a covered vehicle, removed the tarp then put his bag on the backseat.

It was still dark out, so he had enough time to get to the house. He drove out the parking garage and headed east. He picked up his phone and put it on vibrate.

There were people walking on the street, probably going home from the clubs, but not a lot of vehicles.

He parked the armored SUV a good distance away and stared out at the house. He had passed two other houses an hour ago. He sent a quick message to Kyle, letting him know that he was at the house.

His phone pinged just as an unknown vehicle parked a few feet down the street.

  We're here.

Aaron grabbed the bag and exited the vehicle. He walked down the street until the house was out of sight.

He hastened his walk, making his way through the trees until he was looking at the house from another angle. He raised his night vision binoculars to look at his surroundings. With his binoculars, he was able to the house from the distant he was hiding.

"We have two patrolling the back."

"Three at the front."

"Everyone, stick to the plan. Let's get these people out of there."

Aaron crouched down low then slowly made his way towards the house. When he was close enough, he aimed his gun at the two men, firing off two shots in quick succession.

The two bodies dropped to the ground. He dragged both bodies out of sight.

"All clear here."

With the coast clear, Aaron moved towards the door. He stayed there until he spotted Kyle making his way towards him. He pulled out his lock picking set, hunkered down and got to work.

When he heard the familiar click, Aaron gingerly opened the door and they slipped inside the house. Kyle pointed to his eyes then to the door on his right.

With a nod, Aaron treaded softly to the door. Not wanting to be taken by surprise, he did a safety sweep but the room was empty.
