Astrid's P.O.V

I started running as fast as I could, I just had to get away. After a few seconds I heard a howl then the sounds of an animal chasing me. I quickly glanced over my shoulder to see about ten wolves chasing after me, teeth bared, ready to strike. I swiftly turned my head back, focusing on my running. I was dodging branches and trees in the process.

My feet were crushing the leaves located on the forest floor. I didn't even know where I was going. I couldn't see anything; the glow of the moonlight was my only source of light.

My foot suddenly got caught on a tree root then I tripped. I face planted the floor but I stuck my hands out to break my fall. I landed pretty hard on my right, I must have broken it. "Ow," I mumbled.

I lifted my head off the floor, pushing all my weight to my left hand. I looked up to see the same wolves circling around me. Oh, sugar I thought to myself. I dragged myself onto my knees, watching the animals around. Just one was growling at me, one! What's with that??

Suddenly I heard a rustling in the bushes behind me. The wolves must have heard it too because they followed my eyesight to where I looked. I narrowed my eyes at the bush. Then a growl was heard, a fierce one. Then, a huge black wolf burst from the bush, claws extended. At first I thought it was aiming at me but I'm not going to lie when I was surprised that it landed in front of me.

I saw it was bearing its teeth, flattening his eyes against his head. He was as big as the other wolves, wait no, he was even bigger! Not by a lot but he was still larger. He started growling at the grey-brown wolf that was growling at me before.

The other wolves eventually backed off and ran off into the distance. I saw the black wolf in front of me taking deep breaths before he turned around. I widened my eyes when we made eye contact. He lowered his lips, covering up his canines. I began walking back slowly but he just followed my every step.

When I tripped up (yet again), he just sat on his hind legs and cocked his head to the side. I just stared at him, still moving away.

If he wanted to hurt me, he would've done it by now. I stopped moving, I just stared straight into his bright blue eyes.

After what felt like forever, the wolf lowered himself onto his stomach and began crawling towards me, slowly.

When he was beside me, he rubbed his head against my leg. At first, when I reached out to stroke him, he flinched but then rested his head against my palm. I didn't expect for wolf's fur to be so...soft, so comforting.

Hiccup's P.O.V

I'm just lying beside Astrid, she's stroking my head. It feels nice on my fur actually. I quickly looked up, smelling the air. I could smell discomfort. I quickly looked up at Astrid's face. It was scrunched up with pain. I whined loudly.

"What's wrong boy?" she asked me. I quickly got up and walked over to her right side. I then realised her right hand had a massive bruise forming on her hand. I nudged it with my nose then looked up again.

Astrid hissed in pain, I gave her an apologetic face. She seemed to understand. "It's okay boy," she said. "It's not your fault." I shook my head in disagreement, it is my fault. I then nudged her legs before gesturing to the path beside us.

"Uh, you want me to follow you?" she asked me, I just nodded. "Alright," she shrugged. I helped her stand to her feet. Once she was steady, I stood up to my full height. My head and Astrid's were in line. She quickly looked me up and down.

"Wow, you're...big," she mumbled. I just growled softly, and began walking with her by my side. But when I saw her limping, I quickly ran in front of her and made her stop in her tracks. "What now," she moaned.
