Astrid was asleep for nearly a while day. When she woke up, I was right there next to her, our noses touching. I grinned, looking over my shoulder at her alarm clock.

It read 10:00 am.

She had been out a long time.

I kissed her nose. "Sleep well?" She shrugged, mumbling something in response which sounded like "I wanna sleep".

I swung my legs, dangling them off the bed. I placed my feet on her wooden floor, ready to stand up.

Before I could, Astrid gripped my arm. "Don't leave me . . . " she muttered.

"Don't worry baby." I kissed her quickly. "I'm just thirsty. I won't be long." She let me go, burying her head into the pillows.

I left the room, running along the hall and jumping down the stairs, landing on my feet without a sound. I walked into the kitchen seeing Astrid's foster parents kissing.

I silently gagged, going over to the fridge and grabbing two bottles of water. I shut the door, sneaking out the kitchen and running back up the stairs.

I walked casually along the hall, over to Astrid's door. But before I entered, I noticed a door that was slightly open.

I could hear Jay's voice shouting at something. I decided to check it out. I leaned against the wall, peeking round to see Jay on the phone.

"I don't care! . . . No, it's not my fault! Why would it be mine? . . . It's her damn boyfriend's fault . . . Yes, Harry! Son of Stoick Haddock . . . Don't worry, Astrid will be mine." He then hung up, smashing his phone against his floor.

I walked through his door, surprising him. He screamed, staring at me with wide eyes. "Astrid will never be yours. Ever." I cracked my knuckles together.

Jay shifted, growling at me. His body took up most of his floor.

I stretched before jumping in the air. I landed on all four paws, growling quietly.

I lowered my head, revealing my canines. My ears twitched and we both suddenly stopped, staring wide eyed at Jay's door.

Shit . . . I thought. I glanced at Jay. Let's just forget about our grudge, for now. Follow me.

As much as I hated him, Astrid's foster parents might call the police or just kill him their self. Although he tried to kill me, nobody deserves to die. But all deaths happen for a reason, and nobody can stop them.

Jay followed me as we quickly jogged out his room and over to Astrid's. I slammed my body into the door which opened. We ran in as Sammy was coming down the hall.

Jay immediately shut the door with his head. Astrid shot up in bed, glaring at both of us.

Shh I told her. We waited. All Sammy did was go into her room. I heard her retrieve something then she walked down stairs.

I stood to my full height. It's clear Jay.

He sat in the corner as I sulked over to Astrid. I bent my head to rub it against hers.

Sorry Astrid.

I blocked Jay out so he couldn't hear me. Astrid just huffed, falling back onto her bed. Not bothering to shift back, I jumped on the bed, walking over her and lying down, resting my head on her chest.

Sorry. Really.

I heard Jay move around. My head snapped up, glaring at him. He sat back where he sat before.
