"Okay, thank you."
The doctor left the room, shutting the door quietly. I stayed sat in my chair, staring at Astrid's unconscious body. The doctor said she has to wake up by today, otherwise they'll . . . pull the plug.
Astrid has been in a coma for 2 months now. I had been here, sat in this chair, waiting for her to wake up. I missed her . . . so much. I just want her back . . .
I've missed the way I made her laugh, the way I'd play with her hair, our hugs, our kisses, heck, even our arguments. My eyes stung with tears.
I remember the night as if it was yesterday.
I stared at her as she turned slowly. I immediately called Flynn who came running into the room. He cornered the attacker as I caught Astrid just before she hit the floor.
My hand hovered over her side. The knife was still embedded in her body. Should I take it out? No, that'll make it worse.
"Oh gods . . . " Astrid stared at me his her eyes started to close. "No . . . No, Astrid, stay with me! Stay with me Astrid! Don't you dare close your eyes on me! Astrid! Please . . . "
I clutched her body close to my chest. The tears spilled out of my eyes as my head buried into her shoulder.
Soon the doctors came and took her away. I stood, suddenly full of energy and fuming. I stormed over to where Flynn was keeping the attacker at bay.
"Why?!" I yelled. "Why did you try to kill Astrid?!" She wasn't dead, I knew it . . .
The attacker looked up and I growled quietly. It was Heather.
"Heather . . . " I snarled. I couldn't even talk to her without the urge to rip her apart. I walked away, watching from the corner of my eye as Flynn took her away, with the help of two other shifters.
"NO!" I screamed, punching the wall.
"Son."
I turned, seeing my father. I glared at him, not botheringto control my anger.
"Leave me alone . . . " I growled.
He stepped forward. "I'm not going to do that." I huffed, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning against the wall. "It wasn't your fault, son."
Of course it was my fault. I should have sensed Heather was here! Why didn't I know she was here?
"Yes it is," I muttered angrily.
"Harry it isn't - "
"I'm going to check on Astrid." I interuppted, storming out the hut.
As I ran, following Astrid's scent, tears began streaming down my cheeks.
I shook my head, clearing the memory. Suddenly there was a knock on the door. I saw who it was and sighed.
Flynn came in and shut the door. "Hi."
"Hey," I mumbled. I wasn't going to take my anger out on Flynn, he didn't deserve it."Harry." I looked up, seeing Flynn staring at me. "Astrid is going to wake up, I promise you."
I couldn't stop myself. "But what if she doesn't? The doctors will pull the plug out if she doesn't wake up soon."
Flynn didn't reply. He patted my shoulder before leaving the room. Nice talk . . .
I lookedat Astrid. She looked so peaceful there. "Astrid," I murmured quietly, "please wake up. I need you, baby. I want to hear your voice, and your laugh. Gods, I've missed you. I still do. Please, just, wake up for me."
My heart clenched together as I stood up and walked over to the door. I opened it, hesitating, before I left the room.
Before I left the pack hospital, I ordered the doctors not to pull the plug out.
Astrid will wake up and I'll be there, waiting . . .
