I let Astrid drag me into the classroom. I apologised quickly to Mr. Sauce and sat down in my seat. He eyed me for quite a while until he began to teach.
Well . . . he wasn't really teaching, he was reading from a PowerPoint that our actual music teacher provided. Everyone was staring at me and Astrid's intwined fingers . . . it was kind of disturbing.
Noticing my discomfort, Astrid squeezed my hand. "Don't worry about them. They're just jealous." She grinned before facing Mr Sauce.
After about 10 minutes of Mr Sauce explaining to us what we had to do, we finally got into our groups.
Astrid was with Snotlout. She sent me a look, Are you kidding me?!
Meanwhile I was stuck with Jay.
"What instrument do you want to play?" I didn't look him in the eye as I talked.
"Um. Well, I can only play guitar-"
Dammit...
"-so I guess I'll stick with that."
"Electric or acoustic?"
"Acoustic."
I nodded, writing it on our 'worksheet' where in reality, it was just scrap paper.
"What song do you want to play?"
I thought about it for a few minutes. "A thousand miles, Vanessa Carlton."
He nodded. "Well . . . let's get practicing."
This was going to be a long day...
After lunch, (we had 3 hours of school left,) me and Jay were finally ready to perform. I took the piano, Jay with the guitar and this guy called Zayn on the percussion box.
Everything was set up and we were ready.

Once we finished, the audience applauded, standing on their feet. I turned around and shook Jay's hand.
"Nice guitar playing," I mumbled and quickly walked away, over to Astrid.
"That was great, babe!" I pulled her into a hug. I breathed a sigh of relief as I took in her scent.
"Thanks. I better get a good grade." I kissed her. "You're turn now."
"Ugh. You're so damn lucky that you're not with Snotface."
I laughed. "Take 'em down baby," I said as I watched her walk out the room, towards the studio.
