Chapter 134

Hello Everyone! Happy Halloween! I hope everyone had a good week. Mine was much calmer, which was nice. Things have been so crazy this month, that it was nice to just take some time to calm down and get to things that I haven't had time to do all month. Tomorrow (Nov.1) is my birthday so that will be fun. The funny thing is that my son's birthday is exactly 7 days away from mine. So, next week, we are going to Great Wolf Lodge for a few days for his birthday next weekend. It's an indoor waterpark. We have to go during the week though because they totally screw you on rates on the weekends. I will still be updating though.

This week, we return to Patrick's hallucination. Patrick already told Pete how bad things were and that he was very close to death. Pete reacts to this information, mentioning that he had no idea his condition had deteriorated so much and challenges Patrick to continue to fight like hell to stay alive so that they can see each other again and continue what they'd started. Patrick agrees. Pete tells him he has to disconnect from him soon, so they say their goodbyes and Pete disconnects. He immediately goes to tell Spencer everything Patrick told him. Spencer shares that he will go through it all in great detail later to find ways to make Patrick more comfortable. Pete asks if he can go crash and Spencer says he has a question for him before he does. Based on the information Pete provided, Patrick has a ton of fluid in and around the outside of his lungs, which is making it very hard for him to breathe. Spencer wants to drain the fluid from his lungs, but he can't do that at the pack house, so he asks Pete if he'd be ok with him taking Patrick to the hospital for a procedure to drain all the fluid from inside and outside of his lungs. Pete knows they don't have a choice, so he agrees but tells him to minimize his contact with hospital staff that Spencer doesn't completely trust. Spencer agrees and says he will take a few pack members with and put them in scrubs to help him. Then Pete goes to sleep for several hours until Andy wakes him up and tells him to come with him. Pete follows him into Patrick's room to find Patrick awake. He's so happy that he hugs him and tells Andy to get Spencer. Pete asks Patrick how he went from knocking on death's door to waking up in 'real life.' Patrick tells him that he didn't know but tells him the process he went through. Spencer examines him and explains that werewolves have regeneration abilities and are immune to all disease, so he no longer has asthma and he doesn't need his glasses anymore. He explains what he finds and then tells Patrick that they did catch it all in time, which makes him happy. Spencer gives him many cold medications to help him feel better and gives him some Percocet for the pain. Patrick gets really tired and falls asleep and then Pete continues working on him.

Pete doesn't even know what to say to that, and it takes him a good ten minutes to unload everything Patrick just said. He's absolutely flabbergasted! He had no idea things were so bad! Fuck! They're too late! Nooooooooo!!!!!!! He feels tears in his eyes threatening to fall down his cheeks. He's completely at a loss for words. As the initial shock wears off, Pete starts analyzing some of this information. It seems like Patrick has given up hope that he will survive this and made peace with the fact that he's probably going to die. While Pete respects this, he doesn't agree at all. If Patrick doesn't believe there is a reason to keep fighting, then he's surely going to die. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy, and Pete will be damned if he's going to let Patrick give up and die after all this! They are so fucking close! He just needs to hold on for a little longer! What happened to him was tragic and their time was cut short, fuck, they deserve to see each other again and continue their journey together! Pete will do whatever it takes to make that happen. He suddenly realizes that he hasn't said anything in a really long time, so he decides to start sharing this with Patrick.
