!!!!!!!!!!Author's Note!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Everyone! I know! I'm late! I'm going to be straight with everyone. I've been sick, stuck in the house, and I totally lost track of what day it was. I forgot to read the chapter and when my husband told me it was Friday, I was like...Fuck! So you are getting it a day (ish) late. We still have family here too, so it's been hard to get away or find opportunities to write or proofread chapters. My family is leaving on Monday, so I can return to my usual schedules. I'm feeling better now though, so that is good.
Anyways, this week, we are still in Patrick's hallucination, where they continue their conversation. Pete begins at the beginning, sharing that there were several packs that lived on the outskirts of town. They kept to themselves and would make sure to use a forest that humans don't use when they would turn and hunt. They all thrived for many years that way until one pack came into contact with some vampires. The vampires turned a few of that pack's members into werewolf-vampire hybrid abominations. The turned members took over the pack as their leaders whose mission was to create a hybrid army to take over other packs in the area and rule them all as one. The leader of that pack, named Gabe, is one of the hybrids and is completely relentless. The problem is that turning a werewolf into a werewolf-vampire hybrid only works a quarter of the time and when it doesn't work it leaves the creatures in a fully feral, lobotomized state where they are incapable of functioning. They usually take their own lives or get themselves killed to put them out of their misery. Gabe has been releasing these rejects into the wild and continues to experiment on others to improve his turn rate and create his army. Pete explains that Gabe would pick off members of other packs to experiment on until he'd decimated them and taken members from Pete's pack too. When he ran out of werewolves, then he began taking humans to experiment on, first turning them into werewolves and then into turn them into hybrids. Those that weren't turned successfully were mauled until they were beyond recognition and then dumped. Pete tells Patrick that the articles he read about attacks from aggressive dogs were actually the rejects from Gabe's failed experiments and Patrick is appalled. Pete goes on to share that they despise what Gabe's doing, mentioning that he's messing with the balance of nature. He continues by saying that Gabe fails so often because these unnatural abominations weren't meant to coexist in the same body. Pete leads Patrick through several questions until he realizes that he could've been one of those experiments and tells him that the only reason he's safe is because Gabe thinks he's dead. Patrick doesn't understand why Gabe wants him so badly, so Pete tells him that it's because he's part fairy and that vampires can't resist even the smallest amount of fairy blood in humans. Pete presents all the evidence for him being a fairy and Patrick believes him. He decides to tell the pack about this and decides to take a break after that. A week later, Patrick is almost completely better, is noticing some big changes to his body, appetite, sense of smell, has begun his werewolf training and is learning about werewolf society. He's doing very well and notices that his bond and feelings for Pete have gotten much stronger. There is one problem though. He's been having incredibly realistic nightmares about violently hunting forest creatures, catching them, killing them, and eating them. The strange part is that the next day, he wakes up in his bed insanely sore, naked and covered in blood, but he doesn't remember how any of that happened. He sits on that information, deciding not to tell anyone and hopes it goes away, but it doesn't. In fact, it gets much worse and four days later, he wakes up cold, horribly sore, naked and covered in blood in a forest, cuddling a dead carcass. It takes him a while to realize that he somehow turned into his wolf form, attacked, killed, and ate whatever that carcass was that he woke up cuddling.
As always, enjoy, tell your friends, and if you like it, feel free to leave me kudos or a comment! Happy Reading!
