Chapter 157

Hello Everyone! Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a good week. Mine was pretty normal except that I couldn't teach this week because I'm either getting sick, or my allergies are going gangbusters, but I found myself horse after talking for a very short time. I can't teach if I can't talk. I've used that time to work hard on the Prologue Synopsis. I need to finish the chapter I'm working on and then I will post them. After that, it's two more chapters and then we catch up to where my story starts.

Anyways, this week's update is pretty heavy and powerful. I'm not going to lie, I teared up several times when I was proofreading this. It was tough to get through. So, maybe have a tissue box near you when you read it. Here we go! Patrick is unconscious from the sedative Gabe gave him to stop his horrible panic attack and he's dreaming about Pete. Pete interrupts, mentioning that he felt his panic attack and wanted to make sure he was ok. Patrick apologizes for putting him through that and tells him he's ok. Pete asks him what was going on and Patrick tells him that he's in Gabe's lab, hooked up to many machines and being given meds through and IV in his arm. He also explains that his wrists and ankles were restrained, that he's strapped to the medical table and can't escape. He goes on to tell Pete that Gabe had taken so much blood during his feeding that he passed out and woke up in the lab and that Gabe had taunted him. He tells Pete about what happened the day before when Gabe had grilled him about what he was and Patrick refused to answer. Gabe decided he was a Phoenix bird stuck in a human/werewolf body, so Patrick said that he agreed with him to shut him up but that Gabe was still pissed and punished him by carving the word Phoenix into his chest. Then Patrick shares that Gabe had spent the rest of the day experimenting on him, which included cutting him open without anesthesia or pain medication, taking a ton of his blood, and some skin samples. That brought Patrick to right now. Gabe asked him if he was ready to do this again. He'd told him no and wondered why he was trying so soon. Then Gabe told him that he'd spent a ton of time studying his blood to find out why the procedure had failed and had found a genetic marker in his DNA and spent the rest of the night figuring out how to stop it or turn it off. He was eventually successful, so when Gabe tries to turn Patrick this time, he would succeed. Patrick tells Pete that he doesn't want this, but he was trapped there with no escape, saying that this was the end for him. Pete is shocked and apologizes for not being able to save him. Patrick tells him that they were super outnumbered and there was nothing else he could've done and that he's angry at Gabe for ending their time together. Pete is worried Gabe will try to turn Patrick against him if this is successful. Patrick promises to resist that if he's in his right mind. Patrick asks Pete to forgive him if Gabe tries to use him to hurt Pete. Pete forgives him. Patrick feels himself waking up, so they both say their goodbyes to each other. Pete disconnects from Patrick and then absolutely loses it, breaking down and sobbing. Joe comforts him. Patrick wakes up and Gabe tries to torment him, but Patrick won't participate. Gabe starts the procedure.

Chapter 157

He's dreaming of warm places, beautiful beaches, gorgeous turquois water, and being there with Pete. They are lying underneath a palapa on the beach sipping piña coladas completely relaxed as they stay there the whole day. They also spent their fair share of time swimming in the water. Now they are spending time in the hot tub out on their patio just staring at the sea. Time seems to stand still. They stay there for over an hour before getting out, showering to get all the sunblock off, and getting ready to go to dinner. Tonight, they'd planned on checking out the Italian restaurant at their hotel followed by the fire show! They were so excited to see the fire show!
