Chapter 23

"Why did you do that?" I shriek at her after Tyler runs off.

"Because you are in love with Sirius and Tyler is just using you!" She exclaims.

"First off I'm NOT in love with Sirius and secondly what the bloody hell do you mean he was using me?!? He was just helping me get my mind off everything!!"

"C'mon! Will you just go back to the common room with me and talk to Sirius?" She asks.

"No!"

"Why not?!?"

"Because we're about to be late for Care of magical Creatures!" I point over to the forbidden forest where the Gryffindors are meeting.

"Shit!" And with that we take off through the Hogwarts grounds.

"Hello class!" Professor Kettleburn exclaims. "This term will be a very good one! I will pair you up in groups of two and then you will come up and pick a slip of paper, on it will be the name of a magical creature that you will have to take care of." Then he starts calling names. I hear him say that Moony and Jade are together then I start to hope that he doesn't put me and Sirius together but guess what? Exactly that happens. Great.

So we go up to Professor Kettleburn and I pick a name from the hat. It reads Hippogriff. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Jade's POV

I was paired with Remus and Eve with Sirius. Honestly my only thought was that I hoped she wouldn't kill him. I was also glad they were paired because maybe they'd make up.

Remus walked up to me and said "We have to take care of a niffler." I took the slip of paper from him and read the words. "Okay. Great." he looked at me curiously.

"Is something wrong?" I shook my head. "No." of course I was lying but he ignored it.

As we walked over to the stables Professor Kettleburn starts opening the doors so each one of us can see our animals. Remus walked up to the niffler and began petting him. He was really good with animals. Probably because he knew all there was to know about them. I knew barely anything about the niffler.

"Come here and pet him Jade." slowly I walked over there and petted it. "That's it, don't be shy." I petted him a little longer, then got up and looked over at Eve and Sirius to see what they were up to.

Sirius was trying to get Eve to go over there and pet the hipogriff but she wouldn't even acknowledge him. I felt hands on the my shoulders then turned around to find it was Remus. "It's okay. They'll work it out. They always do."

I think about all the fights they'd ever been in but of course none of them were this big. "Oh yeah? And would if they don't." He shrugged and said "They will." He gave me a hug and I hugged back but I didn't believe him.

I wanted to believe him but I just couldn't. Would if they never recovered from this? Would if things were never the same again?
