Chapter 44

Jade's POV

Marlene walks into the room and sees me crying. Then she says "I told you not to talk to them." normally that would make me mad but this time I laughed. She walked over and gave me a hug. "They're no good. Especially Eve. She's awful." I don't know why but I still felt the need to defend her.

"It wasn't really her fault entirely. It was also Remus. He doesn't believe anything I say." Marlene rolls her eyes. "Where's Alice?" I say. It's not that she's particularly comforting I just want to leave the conversation we're having. "She's in the court yard. Want to go there." I nod and we get up.

We're walking out the door when I notice Marlene is still doing something. Eventually I say "Come on!" and she drops whatever it is and says "Calm down! I'm coming!" and runs to our side.

I walk into the commons to see Remus James and Peter. Remus stands up but I just look forward. He walks up to me and begins talking. "Jade, I'm sorry I just didn't know" I cut him off with my laughter. "You didn't know? Well Remus,you obviously don't know that much about me if you think I'm going to cheat on someone I love." and at that I walk away holding in all of the tears forcing their way out.

We walk out of the commons room and Marlene says "Thank God you wear water proof eyeliner and mascara." and I start to laugh with tears streaming down my face.

We go into the court yard and I see Alice sitting alone at a table studying. I sit next to her and Lilly and Marlene sit in front of us. "Hey." I say and she looks up. "Hey, Jade. Haven't seen you in a while. Wait, what happened?" I laugh and say "Oh not much, just got accused of cheating by Eve, Sirius, and Remus but no big deal." Alice looks at me sympathetically. "I can't believe someone would say that about you!" she hugs me and I hug her back.

"So, what are you working on?" she begins to tell me all about it when no other than Tyler Wood walks up.

"Hey Jade. What's going on?" I sigh. "Wood, right now isn't a good time." he looked hurt this time. "Is it ever going to be a good time Jade?" I squeeze my eyes shut then open them. "Not as long as I'm being accused of cheating on Remus with you. Please, walk away." I expected him to look surprises but he just looked angry. "Those people will never except me will they? First they think I'm after Eve and now they think I'm after you? Who do they think I am?" I laugh. "To be fair, I thought you were after Eve too." he smiles. "Well, don't know what to say to that." I nod and say "Wood, nothing personal just please leave." he nods and just walks away without another word.
