Chapter 52

-Eve's POV-

As I come back to the common room,with my History of Magic essay done of course, I see Jade, Remus, James, and Peter all talking by the fire.

"Eve!" Jade calls. "Have you heard about the Halloween ball?"

"Yeah...I actually kind of already have a date..."

Their jaws all drop.

"Is it Amos Diggory?" James asks, making me snort.

"No! The guy wanted me to go to Madam Puddlefoot's...."

Jade starts laughing and soon the others do too.

"So who are you going with? Is he a Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw?" James asks and I don't answer for a while.

"No!" Gasps Jade. "He's a Slytherin isn't he?"

I just nod.

I hear Remus whisper to James "Sirius will not be happy about this..." Too right you are Moony...

Sirius is gonna be freaking pissed.

Jade's POV

A Slytherin? It's not that I care, I never really thought Slytherin's were all that bad, but I just didn't know Eve felt the same way. I thought she was like Sirius, hating all Slytherins. "Well, I think it's awesome that you're going with a Slytherin." I say hoping maybe she wouldn't think about Sirius.

"Yeah, I guess so. What are you dressing up as Jade? Assuming you're going, of course." I laugh." Yeah, I have to go. I kinda promised Lily. But I don't know. What about you?" she shrugs. "I'm not sure either." I want to keep the conversation going, because first I thought she might hate me but now she's talking to me. I guess all she really wanted to do was avoid Sirius. Also, I wanted her to not think about how she's basically ripping his heart into a billion pieces. What was Sirius going to do when he saw her dating a Slytherin? I'm almost positive he's going to think she did it to mess with him.

"What's your dates name?" asks James. "Josh, Josh Erie." she replies. "Cool." I add. The awkwardness in the air bothered me. It wasn't supposed to be awkward. Not with Eve. Never with Eve. Why did things have to turn out as they did?

"So James, have you asked Lily to go with you yet?" I had to suppress a smile at that. "As a matter of fact, I have." he said proudly. "Really? And what did she say to you?" I could see Eve, all prepared for a no. "She said yes." he said even more proudly than before. The shock struck her hard. "Really? Are you lying to me? Guys, is he lying to me?" we all start laughing, except for James who crosses his arms and says "Why wouldn't she say yes?" Eve walks up to him and squeezes his cheek. "Aww, no reason. Of course she'd say yes to you, cutie pie." we all laughed even more.

"Well, I'm going to go up to bed, night." all the guys say "Night." simultaneously." I'm going to go too. Night." again, a simultaneous "Night." and Eve and I go up to the girls bedroom together.
