-Eve's POV-
The next couple of days pass in a blur, with people picking out costumes and getting ready for the dance.
At first I really wanted to go as a ninja but Jade talked me out of it, saying that'd it'd be weird. It sooo wouldn't be weird. It'd rock! But I ended up against being a ninja and now instead I'm going as a unicorn.
KIDDING!! I'm going as a devil. Dressed in a cute red dress and a little devil-horns hairband.
At meals I've taken to sitting alone because even though I know the marauders, except Sirius, don't hate me, I'd rather stay away from him.

After lunch Jade walks up to me. "You ready for tonight?"
"What for people to see me dancing with a Slytherin? Why wouldn't I be ready?"
She laughs. "Yeah..so when do I get to meet him? I have to approve first."
"Well...since we don't have classes for the rest of the day...?" I tease
"Really??"
"No, you'll meet him tonight." I laugh.
She laughs and walks away to Moony who I grin at wave. He and Jade laugh at me then start talking about stuff and walk away.
So, since James is going with Evans I decide to go talk to her really quick, no matter how painfully awkward it will be for both of us.
I see her, McKinnon, and Lightfeather standing around talking so I walk over to them.
"Hey Evans can I talk to you really quick?" She looks shocked and raises her eyebrows. "It's about James." Comprehension dawns on her face and she nods.
"So, I get that Jade told you to go to the ball with him, but can you still please be civil to him at least?"
She actually laughs. "What you think I'm just going to be snotty to him?"
"Well you usually are so...."
"Don't worry, I'll be nice to him."
I give her a smile. "Thanks Evans that means a lot. I just don't want him to get his heart broken."
She gives me a kind of half smile back. "You're welcome Jacobs"
Jade's POV
Remus and I finally agreed on a costume. It took us a while but we finally settled on a princess and a knight in shining armor. Well, I didn't exactly care if the armor was shining exactly but that's what we're calling it. Everybody was going to Hogsmeade for their costumes but Remus and I had already gotten ours before everyone else. I was hanging out with him in the commons, laughing at the title of his new book when Tyler Wood walked up to us.
As always Remus tensed up. "Hey!" I said brightly, probably the brightest I'd ever spoke to him. "Hey." he replied. "So, are you and Lupin going to the dance?" I smiled and put my hand on Remus's arm. "Yup. How about you? Do you got a date?" he shrugged. "I don't got a date but I might drop by." he replied. "Cool. Why aren't you at Hogsmeade? Everyone else is." he laughed a little. "That's like asking 'why aren't you doing your homework everyone else is.'" I shrug. "I suppose it is." Remus was still looking uncomfortable.
"Hey Lupin, you don't have to hate me, you know. I'm not here to cause any trouble." with a death look he replied "Then maybe you should be here." I rolled my eyes. "Remus... He's obviously not the one causing the trouble." he sighed. "Well..." he leaned back into his chair. "Well, I'm gonna go. See you guys tonight I guess." and walked up to the bedrooms.
The night comes quickly enough and I'm dressed in my princess dress. The fabric is jade green to match my eyes and had lace trimming along all the edges. The top hugged my body tightly since the lacing in the back tightened it. The skirts felt huge and were heavy but I looked quite pretty so I just ignored it. My hair was curled and half of it was up in a bun while the rest hung down in curls around my face.
Eve walked in and breathed the words "Jade, you look beautiful." I laughed. "Thanks. It feels weird, being all dressed up in something fancy. I don't do this much." she smiled. "Well, I'll see you downstairs." and walked out into the commons. When I finally decided I didn't look that ridiculous I walked into the commons. Remus was already there with his pretend armor.
"Jade, you are absolutely gorgeous. " I smiled. "I feel like it's too much." he slowly shook his head. "Not at all." and we walked down to the dining hall. All the furniture had been cleared out for the party and there was a band playing. As I looked around I decided it wasn't too much. Everyone had gone all out for the party.
I whisper to Remus "Is Sirius coming?" he nodded. "Yeah, James convinced him to come. He's coming as a ninja." I almost laughed but made myself not. They do have very similar minds, Eve and Sirius. "And James?" I ask. "Him and Lily decided to go together as pirates." I nodded once. Eve had found her way to us with her date.
"Hey! Jade, this is Josh. Josh, Jade." I shook his hand. He was quite tall, being the same height as Remus but with broad shoulders. I could tell why Eve liked him, he was handsome. Very handsome actually. Dark hair, and dark eyes and slightly on the pale side. He was dressed as a vampire. "And I'm Remus." Chimed in Remus who was at my side.
At that moment Dumbledore walked up to us. "My, you girls look lovely." we smiled at him. "Thank you Professor" I said and he walked off. "Well, I'll see you later." and before I could stop her she was already gone.
Sirius walked up to us and asked the first of many questions. "Who's that guy with Eve?" I sighed. "If you must know, it's her date. Josh Erie." "What house?" I didn't want to answer but what could I do? "Slytherin." his face had the look of pure horror. "Slytherin!?! She can't be!" I sighed again. "Well she is. It's not going to do you any good to dwell on it." and he hastily and angrily walked away.
