"Goodnight, my love," Johannah smiled, leaning over to kiss his forehead. "Sleep tight."

"'Night, Grandma," Harry whispered back to her, snuggling deeper into the covers. Johannah stood and turned off the bedside lamp, then quietly left the room, standing outside the closed door after she left.

She was still in a state of shock that Louis had even adopted kids, but she was beginning to get used to the idea. She knew that Louis was going to do a great job, and from what she could see, the babies were great too. Only time would tell, she guessed, if the two types of greatness would mesh well. There was one thing Johannah knew, and it was that she was so glad to be along for the ride.

The little ones stayed with Johannah for two days, just to be safe. Luckily, none of them got sick, so Johannah just had two days of baby spoiling that was only interrupted by school on Friday, but all day Saturday she had them to herself.

Louis and Niall had spent almost the entire two days together. Niall stayed in Louis' room and Louis stayed right there with him, wanting to make sure he would be there if the boy needed him. It wasn't necessarily a fun two days, since Niall was incredibly ill a majority of the time, but there were a few good moments.

Like when Niall was nauseous enough that he was sitting on the bathroom floor, afraid of puking, but never did. Louis and Niall sat on the bathroom floor for the better part of an hour playing cards until Niall finally decided the nausea had gone away enough for him to feel comfortable going back to bed.

The other time was late in the evening, long after Niall had fallen asleep. Louis was just dozing off himself, but then Niall jerked awake and suddenly Louis was awake as well. "Daddy?" Niall's quiet voice whimpered, and Louis began to rub his back comfortingly.

"Yeah, baby?" he asked, just as quiet. Louis felt Niall relax beneath his touch, and the father smiled a bit. "What's wrong?"

"I just wanted to know you were still here," he replied, turning so he was curled closer to the other. Louis smiled and wrapped his arm around Niall.

"I'm always here, kid," he replied. Louis pressed a kiss to Niall's hair, getting a sense of déjà vu as he thought back to the first day of school when Niall had gotten like this. "Always."

"School's scary without you," Niall admitted, almost as if he could read Louis' mind.

"Yeah? Why?" Louis asked gently, continuing to rub the young boy's back and relax him.

"Because it's big and there's lots of people and I can't see my brothers and you're not there to make sure we're all okay. It's just a lot," Niall whispered, pressing closer to Louis and sniffling. Louis smiled sadly down at him and then kissed his hair once more, pulling the boy as close as he dared.

"It is a lot. You guys came from never being apart from one another in this small little area to being suddenly brought into a new place, with new people, and taken to other places that you aren't familiar with. It's scary," Louis admitted. "I completely understand that it's scary. Is there anything I can do to make it better?" he asked.
