"Hey, JARVIS, I'm ridiculously late. Could you find me an alternate route to the tower please?" You had been hung up in traffic for over an hour, now officially so late to meet your father's team that you were just waiting for him to land in a suit on the hood of your car. The man had a tendency to be just slightly overprotective. Who were you kidding? The man was almost suffocating.

"A new route has been input into the system, miss."

"Thanks, J," you mumbled, working your way towards the next turn. "So, just so I know, has he said anything about me? You know, has he told the team anything specific?"

"Is there something of particular concern, Miss Stark?"

"You know where I'm going with this, JARVIS. Do they know?"

A short pause followed as he searched his database, each passing second raising your anxiety that he might find something. "I cannot find any conversation in regards to your history with HYDRA, miss."

You hadn't visited the new tower since it's renovation to the Avengers home, and had only been there once under the name of Stark Tower. With the technological updates and addition of characteristics to match the team member's personalities, you found it to be much more interesting and much more awe inspiring than before. As you waited for Tony to join you, you gave yourself a quick tour of the recreation area, finding the old poster of Captain America of particular curiosity to you.

"Don't tell me you like your guys that much older, please. Unless you're trying to kill me."

You smiled to yourself and turned towards the familiar voice, "hey, dad. No, not trying to kill you; not this time, anyway. I haven't tried that in a long time." Pulling him into a quick hug, you chuckled at the memory of the first time you met him. "I'm really glad that I missed."

"Hey, no one more than me. Of anything to inherit, I'm relieved that you got my aim." Tony grabbed your hand and gave it a small squeeze, bringing it to his lips for a kiss, "so, you ready? They're all here."

"Nope," you sighed, "but let's do this anyway." Once you had reached the entrance to the lounge, and once you saw the team gathered to meet you, your nerves began to build and you felt a little queasy. You pulled back against his hand to stop him, "hey, do they know?"

"Would it matter if they did?"

"Kinda, yeah."

Tony held his position, looking out at his friends as if he were thinking about how each would react to the news that you had been a HYDRA assassin, trained specifically to kill him before you had both discovered your lineage. He knew some would be just fine, having had experienced redemption themselves, while others might be more cynical and suspicious, having very recently come out of the fall of SHIELD and its long history of deception, first-hand. It could be a very hard sell.

"No, sweetheart, they don't know. They don't have to."

The greetings went better than you had expected, now realizing that you were nervous for nothing. Each Avenger was very welcoming and polite, but now they were making you a little uncertain of their intentions as they spoke. Steve and Thor were sitting together, whispering to each other between glances at you, Bruce and Clint looked uncomfortable each time they were asked to speak, and Natasha was unapologetically staring.

"Dad," you leaned in closely, whispering, "whey are they being weird?"

"Because they are weird?"

"Hmm," you murmured, reaching out for your drink but finding the glass empty. You were about to stand to get a refill, but another hand had wrapped around it and pulled the glass away.
