The Story Of Us
Chapter 46
Emily's POV

Date story took place: 12/4/12
Age: 15

I stared out the window at the gray sky. Clouds hovered in place, making me feel drowsy. It felt as if it could snow at any moment. I pulled my comforter closer around me closing my eyes once again. This was going to be my third nap today and it was only one in the afternoon. Being suspended from school and grounded from everything you have is probably the toughest thing a teenager could go through. I wasn't allowed to leave the house, leave my bedroom, or even speak to Caleb until it was time for me to return to hell, also known as school. Really, I shouldn't even be in this situation right now. My outfit consisted of an oversized, baggy sweatshirt and a pair of Nike Pros. It was the third day I've worn this in a row, my new highest streak. I didn't have any makeup on and my hair looked like trash. But I honestly didn't give a crap. Of course I took showers and brushed my teeth, so I wasn't that much of a bum.

I heard my door knob slowly turn and my door creak open. Assuming it was just my mom coming in I just ignored it. The person sat down next to me and brushed the fly aways out of my face.

"Go away." I grumbled. I wasn't in the mood to talk to my mom because it always lead to her giving me a huge lecture.

"Well, then. I get here, come to see you, and you kick me out? Rude." I heard his voice.

I snapped around to find Caleb lying down next to me in my bed. His face was inches from mine.

A grin spread across my face as I enveloped him in a suffocating hug. Being able to see him and hear him again brought all the happiness back to me and the depressing away.

"Hello to you too." Caleb chuckled. At this point I was on top of him refusing to move or unwrap my arms around him.

"I've missed you so freaking much." My voice was muffled from his sweatshirt that he had on. The smell if his cologne always made my heart beat faster.

"You know what us right now reminds me of?" He asked, still holding onto me tightly as if he might loose me.

"Hmm?"

"That time when we were younger and I came home from vacation. You came running over to me like some animal and tackled me to the ground." I could almost hear the smile in his voice.

I laughed. "Why do you remember this?" I adjusted myself to where I was now lying next to him, my head on his shoulder.

"That's sorta when I realized how much I really liked you, I guess."

Placing my hand on his chest, I propped myself well enough to get a good look at him.

"Really?" I asked, blushing.

He nodded. "That was also when I met Ethan for the first time too. I then really felt the need to step up my game a notch and I guess grab your attention."

"Awhhhh." I teased around with him while messing up his hair. His face turned a bright red color which cracked me up even more.

"You know I've been playing that game much longer than you have." I nudged him with my elbow.

Caleb rolled his eyes as he pulled me closer into him again. "Okay, sure then."

"No, really!" I yell.

"Fine, fine. Talk."

"After you kissed me on the cheek that one Halloween, I like feel in love with you. I don't know." I giggled.

"We were literally eight, Emily." He scoffed and shook his head.

"And I'm not allowed to fall in love with someone that young? Geez, give me a break." I grabbed the pillow nearest to me and tossed it at him.

Before I could even react, Caleb had me pinned down against the bed as I was gasping for air from how much I was laughing.

"You think you're funny don't you?" His face was close to mine which made it hard trying to make a serious face.

I nodded my head in response. "Of course I do."

Caleb's eyes held my stare as so did mine, so we were basically having a little mini staring contest. I blew into his face, causing him to blink and lose.

"Wow!" He exclaimed, pinning my arms down tighter onto the bed.

"Ow!" I giggled. "Just let me go." Wiggling out under his firm grip was utterly impossible.

"Okay, I have a deal." He smirked.

"I'm listening." I sighed, blowing a piece of hair out my face.

"I'll let you go only if you kiss me." How did I not see that coming?

"Why didn't you just ask that earlier?" I placed my lips against his. We moved in synch as he released me from him. Now his arms were on either side of me, his weight barely on me, but just slightly.

Caleb suddenly takes control as his kissing becomes more passionate. The more and more he keeps doing this, the longer I want this moment to last.

We flip over to where I'm on top which makes things just a whole lot easier for the both of us. Before I knew it, we were making out, something I had never done before.

I ran my fingers through Caleb's hair as he placed his hands around my waist, pulling me closer to him. Then we heard the front door slam.

Caleb jumped from the noise causing him to bump his head onto mine.

"Ow," I held my hand up to my head, wincing.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, Em." He sat up next to me and gently placed his hand over mine that rested on my head.

"Listen, I have to go." Caleb said in a panicky voice. He gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and rose to his feet.

I gave him a confused look. "Why? Can't you stay a bit longer?"

"Well," he sighed, brushing his hair to the side. "I may or may not have snuck out of the house without my parents permission?" He gave me a nervous smile.

My confusion quickly turned to shock as my mouth dropped.

"Caleb," I began. "You're going to get us-" But then I was cut off by the sound of my mother outside of my room.

A small knock came from the door and it slowly creaked to an ajar. Before Mom could see Caleb in the room, he took a side step behind the door, pressing himself up against the wall.

"Hey honey. Who were you talking to?" She peeked her head in.

"Talking to?" I gave a casual laugh and scratched the back of my head. I wasn't good at lying and it was pretty obvious that I was at that very moment.

"Yeah," she took a step in. "It sounded like you were speaking with someone."

"Uh," my voice cracked. Great. "Yeah, I don't know what you're talking about." I shrugged. I was for sure busted now. Looks like I was looking at another week of being trapped.

"Okay. Well, I'm just checking on you." She nodded.

My mother must've been totally blind if she didn't see me lying. I let out a sigh and gave a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine."

Her hand swung the door open even more, centimeters away from hitting Caleb. I cringed waiting for her to find him, but she didn't.

"Can I make you lunch. I bought some groceries." She offered, walking farther into my room. Can she just leave me alone for once?

I immediately swung my legs up and off my bed, as I rushed towards her.

"No, no. I'm not hungry." I began to push her out the door. Before I could hear a reply, I slammed the door on her face and locked it.

I shot Caleb a dirty look as he laughed silently to himself.

"I don't see what's so funny. We could've just died." I whispered.

He just shook his head. "Hey, you don't have pants on."

I looked down at my long, long-sleeved shirt that covered my Nike Pros. I pointed my finger at him ready to protest, but then just flung my hands up in the air and rolled my eyes.

"Shut up."
