The Story Of Us
Chapter 58
Emily's POV

Date story took place: 5/19/15
Age:16

I found myself stalking Caleb's Instagram a lot lately. Unlike me, Caleb had kept all of the posts of me up and didn't even change the caption. I deleted every single photo he was in the day after prom.

So there I was, casually strolling through the photos I had looked at so many times before. I had made it down to 87 weeks when my mom knocked my door.

"Emily, this is ridiculous. You need to get up and do something productive." She peeked her head in.

I grumbled and turned my back to her. I listened as she walked in and picked up the clothes that were scattered all throughout my room.

"Katie invited us over for dinner Friday night." My mom sat down on my bed.

"Well, I'm not going." I said quickly without hesitating.

"I think it's best if you do, Emily."

"Mom, you don't understand, do you?" I laughed.

"No, I do. I understand completely. You hate his guts and never want to see him again." She said sighing.

"Right. If you already know all of this then why would you bother trying to force me to go?" I asked confused.

"Because I don't think you know the full story."

I started to get frustrated and sat up. "Mom, he cheated me. I was there. You weren't. You don't even know the full story anyways."

"Yeah, I actually do. Katie told me." She paused for a moment waiting for me to say something, but then continued. "I don't think you realize how much he really loved you, honey. Anything he said or did around you showed his love for you. Katie told me just these past weeks since you've broken up that his grades have dropped, he has had no rest, he's playing like crap this baseball season, and he has never come out of his room. This whole mess has taken a huge toll on him, Emily. And it's been the same way with you."

"Mom, this has nothing to do with him cheating on me." I complained.

"Calm down and let me finish." She held out her hand. "Katie said Caleb wants to explain what happened."

"Stop," I interrupted. "I freaking already know what happened and I don't want another recap of the whole episode. Besides, I know he's just going to lie to me to make it seem like he didn't really cheat on me." I mumbled. Just thinking about him making lame excuses over the whole situation made me sick to my stomach.

"Caleb lying and cheating? I'm so sure." She rolled her eyes. "Be real, Em. He'd never do that to you."

I just shook my head and laughed. "This is all so messed up."

"Really, it's not. You're just making it that way." She stood up and smoothed out her shirt.

"Just give him a second chance." Mom gave me a small smile. "I can't stand seeing my two babies like this."

"I don't want to Mom." I whined.

"Well, I guess you don't want your phone for an entire month either." She shrugged her shoulders and started to walk away.

"You can't do that to me! It's not fair!" I shout after her.

"You go to dinner, you keep your phone. It's as simple at that, Emily. Now stop your back talking or I'll take your phone away for two months." Mom wagged a finger at me.

As she shut the door behind her, I buried my face deep into my pillow and screamed. Of course it was muffled so no one could hear how deafening it was. After screeching, I flipped over and laughed.

"I hate my life."
