"Jesus Christ," I gasped at the large amount of people already waiting outside the blocked off conference area at Stark Industries.
Cameras and reporters demanded Tony's attention, as bright flashes went off. I noted Tony flinched and instinctively squeezed his hand before a smiling Obidiah opened the door and helped Tony out of the car, lightly hugging him and playing the crowd.
My eyes quickly scanned through the crowd, as a small growl left my mouth once Pepper and I were left by the car, trailing behind the growing group of reporters and other unknowns.
I smoothed down my jeans, and blew some hair off my forehead impatiently, as my legs began to sway from fatigue, but I urged Happy forward, making sure one of us was with Tony.
"Have Stark Industry security stationed on both sides of the stage, and out front, by the doors and car," I harped before Hap scurried after Tony.
My body had taken a relaxing breath, knowing Tony was home safe, but the orb in his chest was jaw dropping, and I was just as curious as Pep was in learning how that thing was keeping him alive, and why it was needed, but I was more worried about his state of mind, and dire need for this conference. The unease ever present in my stomach and chest seemed to wane for just a minute, but flexed once I watched the crowd call out questions and Obidiah smile.
"(Y/n)?" Rhodey called out, but I was already moving.
"It's like he never left, but this is crazy," I muttered, pushing my way through the crowd and into the conference room of Stark Industries, cautiously assessing the chaos.
"Hey, their playboy's back, can you blame them?" Rhodes shrugged, but stopped me from heading up front next to Tony. His hand gripped my arm, and his dark brown eyes fixated on me, while the crowd filed passed us into the conference room, "after this little parade you and me are gonna go eat, and take a walk, then I'm taking you home," he mentioned, and pushed some hair off my cheek, "that's nonnegotiable (y/n), I'm worried about you.." He finished, before heading up to the stage.
"See?" Pepper warned, as she grabbed my hand, and pulled me inside, "I told you I wasn't the only one who noticed. You're barely staying on your feet."
"Go away or be quiet," I huffed, and watched Tony approach the stage.
"That was rude," Pep added, but held onto my hand, and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"So what? Yes I'm tired, but my clothes fit better, and I promise I'll eat something with Jamie after this is all said and done, and I'll probably sleep for two days straight, at least," I joked, but she rolled her eyes, and straightened out the hem of her dress.
"Ms. Potts, Ms. (L/N)?" A handsome, sandy-haired man in a black suit interrupted, and stepped next to both Pepper and myself. Tony had already taken a seat in front of the podium and began asking people to sit down with him, but my eyes flickered back over the thin smile, and grey assessing eyes, "I'm Agent Coulson from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement & Logistic Division, and we need to debrief Mr. Stark about his captivity."
"You're from the what now? I've never heard of that particular organization?" I asked curiously, slightly smiling at the well-dressed man in front of me. I finally moved my attention from Tony to the so-called agent in front of us. The well kept man was my height, with a small smile which hadn't left his face, close cropped sandy brown hair, and grey, piercing eyes with gold specks.
"I understand ma'am, we're a different sort of organization," he stated, lowering his voice as Tony began to speak.
"Okay, well I'm (y/n), Tony's other assistant, what is it that you need again, Agent Coulson?" I asked, frowning at the useless information he gave me about his organization.
He smiled, and shook my outstretched hand, "I need to debrief Mr. Stark on the details of his captivity."
"Uh, okay, well, considering he just got back a little over an hour ago, and I really don't know who the hell you are, or the organization you're from, how about I put you down for sometime tomorrow or the next day?" I replied, pulling out my phone and opening up Tony's already filled calender.
"We've already been approached by the FBI, DOJ, CIA.." Pepper stated quickly, and gave Coulson the same detached look I did.
