"Wait, so let me get this straight, are you telling me that my girlfriend has super powers," Tony scoffed, and rubbed his tired face, "and they revolve around the stone?"
After two hours, he collapsed in a chair, and closed his eyes.
Three months, three goddamned months, and (y/n) had discovered she had more than just the ability to ward off Wanda, and it scared the shit out of him, while also infuriated him. She told him about training, and running more tests, but (y/n) never even mentioned what was happening to her, and he just couldn't figure out why.
Yes, in the last three months he'd been running back and forth, but that was no excuse. He came home, they talked on the phone, yet she kept all this from him, and in that time, the team and (y/n) had discovered that not only did Wanda's powers no longer effect her, but neither did Vision's, at all, she was even able to force some of that power back, away from her.
It was as if she could create a shield around herself, and could proceed through whatever Wanda threw at her, which was alot.
Tony shouted and cursed at the amount of time they spent bringing her to the brink, but that was his own guilt, anger, and fear he had for her, talking.
This...it was unbelievable, but once he saw the videos...
Then Steve, along with Natasha, were the one's who noticed how the atmosphere also seemed to shift due to her mercurial moods lately, and seemingly effected everyone, namely Natasha.
After one bad session which brought on some kind of panic attack, they all soon discovered her ability to effect the living environment around her. She not only effected people in the direct vicinity, like Natasha, and the atmosphere, she even had the ability to move small things, like desks and shelves, but it was all forced out of choas, and her cries.
He watched the videos, and each time he heard her cry out or whimper, he had to keep his own fears from taking over and pushing him over the edge.

"I'm gonna forego the question as to why I'm the last to know about all this, but what's causing it?" Tony asked, and leaned forward, "and is it going to get worse?"
"We don't know," Vision stated, and frowned, "I've run tests, both physical, and mental, but physically (y/n) is healthy, tired but healthy. We did discover a few unknown genetic markers in her genome, but we have no way to match or find what these markers are, since she has no known living relatives, or the reason they have become visible as of now. The blood tests ran after her near death before Ultron were normal. It's as if the stone somehow activated these markers," Vision continued and brought up a screen with her blood tests, as Tony swallowed his harsh retort, and looked up at the screen.
(Y/n)'s genetic makeup looked fairly normal, but once it was placed next to Tasha's and even Wanda's, there were spots of mutated genes displayed over her DNA ladder.
"That's...that's not possible?" Tony whispered, and wiped his face, concentrating on the DNA strands in front of him.
"Mutations are fairly common, but (y/n)'s, as I said are strange, and as far as we know, one of a kind, but as you can see, there is an abundance of abnormal proteins, as well as a gene mutation, which should be a cause for concern, but I'm assuming since this mutation has been handed down through the female line for generations, it is now just a part of her genome, just as the serum is in Captain Rogers's blood. She also has a higher red and white blood cell count, although that's not unheard of, but there are also a few more oddities we discovered once we tested her mental capability, and brain chemistry," Vision added, and brought up three different screens, one with an EEG layout, MRI scan, and the last looked like a printout of her sleep cycle.
"There's more?" Tony questioned, but finally got up, put his glasses on, and tilted his head at the three other screens, forcing himself to look away from (y/n)'s blood tests.
He first noticed her sleep cycle, and wake cycles never really changed output. Her beta and delta waves seemed to go hand in hand with each other, but not competing against one another, which should of been next to impossible.
Tony functioned at high beta range, usually most of the time, and stayed there, unless he was exhausted, only then would his mind go down to theta and sometimes delta in order for him to sleep, but hers, her beta, alpha and delta waves seemed to stay on pace with one another regardless if she was awake or sleeping, and there was no medical reason why or how.
Her EEG showed normal electrical patterns at first, but they spiked dramatically once faced with Wanda or Vision's power. He could of sworn it looked similar to someone suffering from a seizure, but she wasn't seizing, nor impugned by the overstimulation. The influx of electrical stimulation should of caused severe immobility, and muscle spasms, but instead it hindered all abilities of the stone.
Her MRI showed nothing but a healthy functioning brain, and he released a semi relieved sigh.
"Her MRI appears normal, but as you can see, her brain function and brain waves are some what strange, and react almost violently to the mindstone, not Wanda herself," Vision asserted, "Fury recommended a neurologist, to see if they could make sense of this, but (y/n) refused, and believes her answers lay in her history, her heritage, and I am inclined to agree as this point."
"She's meeting a professor, an archeologist, at Arizona State who specializes in Aztec history and mythology, once we get back from this drop off," Steve added, "he's supposed to be at the top of his field, and didn't ask too many questions about her interest."
Tony sighed again, "I can't believe this.."
In such a short time, too many what ifs, and problems arose, and he wasn't here for any of it. Which wouldn't of been the case, if she'd just told him what was going on. He would of dropped everything and made sure he was a part of what was happening to her, but instead whether out of worry, anger or fear, she kept it from him.
He rubbed his temples and looked back at the screens, "and there's no signs of atrophy, or deterioration from whatever this is, no health issues due to the mutation?"
"Tony, we're all worried here, but she was given a clean bill of health, and whatever manifestation, or ability she has doesn't seem to be causing her physical harm, except for fatigue, but...I think we're all more worried about her mental health, and ability to accept this alone, at least she's making it seem that way," Steve replied softly.
"She's not alone," Tony snapped, "I don't know what the hell she was thinking, but this..." He sighed again, and leaned back in his chair, waving at the screens.
"Pff, you know exactly how she is, how she's always been, just because you gave her a couple months of sex and inclusion doesn't supersede what's she always known about the path she walks," Natasha snarled, and headed for the door, "did you see what she can do? She shouldn't have to fall apart just to get you involved, you're so full of shit Tony."
"Natasha!" Steve shouted, but she was already gone.
"Uh, not that I probably didn't deserve that, but what the hell's her problem?" Tony asked, and leaned against the counter. He was tired, beyond tired, and after what he just learned and saw, he wanted to go wrap his arms around (y/n) and protect her from everything.
"Her and (y/n) have an unusually strong bond, which seems to sometimes effect Ms. Romanoff, especially during some darker moments (y/n) has experienced lately," Vision continued, "all of us can feel a change in the atmosphere, or flashes of her rage, and sadness, but not to the extent of Ms. Romanoff."
"It's not just that, but after the tests and the training, (y/n)'s been keeping herself away from us, or trying too. She fears her ability, as I fear mine, and feels she has no control. Her empathetic ability grows stronger once she experiences intense bouts of fear, or sadness, and rage, not just against me," Wanda added, and waved her magic around her fingers, "you saw what happened outside, she feels if she can't control this, then she'll put us, namely you, in danger. I think that's one of the reasons she didn't tell you, maybe she wanted to learn some control, or a reason why..."
"And how do you know that?" Tony asked, "and I'm not scared of her.."
"I know you're not," Wanda smiled, "and she told me this a few days ago, after our last session."
Tony nodded his head, and headed for the door, "she needs to take a break, no more training sessions, no more tests, until we talk to this professor, and find a replacement for her for this drop, I don't want her going anywhere after what happened outside, and send all this to FRIDAY, so I can take a look at it later..."
"Tony, you can't lock her up, and she's adamant that she be a part of this foundation trip," Steve decreed, but didn't disagree.
"Then I'll postpone it for a few days," he retorted, and quickly walked back to her room.
His suit loomed near her, keeping an eye on her, and making sure she didn't have a nightmare, but he sent it back to his tower and looked around her room for some sweats. He wasn't surprised to see half of his workout attire in her small closet, but he slipped on a t-shirt and some sweats and crawled into bed next to her.
She wasted no time and scooted closer, settling into his chest and arms, while he kissed her forehead. He looked down at her face, noting the paleness of her usual light brown skin, and the dark circles under her eyes. Her full lips were set in a hard line, but once he kissed her cheek and nose, she sighed, and finally relaxed into him.
Never in his entire life was he as scared and worried than he was at the moment. It was unbelievable, but rage also prickled at his skin, because she forced herself to face this alone. Him being busy was no excuse, not when he was just a phone call away, and could of been here in minutes.
The amount of emotions vying for dominance kept him from sleeping, but he watched her breathe in and out. Promising her and himself that they'd figure it out, regardless how angry or scared they both were.
