There's some sexy time at the bottom

"How are you still eating?" Rhodey asked, and eyed the third cupcake in my hands, "that's like your fourth cupcake?"
"My third, and because this tastes like the tears of jesus, here, try it," I giggled, and pushed the cake against his mouth.

Almost everyone had arrived by the time Natasha and I made it downstairs. The next hour was spent hugging people, and welcoming them into the tower. Finger foods and desserts were everywhere, while glasses of champagne, and wine made their rounds.
The wine and conversation with Pep and Nat, relaxed some of my tension from earlier, and I kept my focus on the people around me. In fact, I wasn't really angry anymore, just bothered by the notion he couldn't tell me the real reason he went, but I hoped Tony and I could finish our conversation later. Besides I was to distracted by everyone fawning over the decorations and holiday cheer.
Clint's kids were oohing and awing, at the immensity of Tony's tower, and he even offered to take them on a tour. Mama Rhodes was her typical loud self and fawned over Tony and I. I teared up a bit after she wrapped me in her warm arms, and held onto me, cooing about how long it'd been.
When I first met James's mom, I was in my early twenties, and still on shakey ground, but she welcomed me, and made me feel more like her wayward daughter than just one of Rhodey's friends, and I loved her for it. Of course she too thought Rhodes and I were a couple, and pushed us to be, but it took a lot of explaining, a few years, and beer to finally get her to stop.
Her joyful smile showed her exuberance once she started in on Tony and I, which I expected, and her brash comments kept a constant blush on my face, and his mouth open in shock, but both of us were still a bit wary around each other. So I just laughed it off, and gingerly held his hand in mine.
Maria was enjoying some of Tony's high end liquor, and snacking on everything, while making the occasional comment about work. Sam and Steve were busy talking about baseball, and the decorations, while Vision and Wanda were taken aback by the festivities. She teared up a bit as I pointed out the Menorah I had lit for her, since I remembered from her files, she was Jewish.
I flitted around the large room, making sure everyone was happy, and eating. It kept my worry away, and helped me get past my own doubts from earlier.

"Great, now I have frosting all over my face," James complained, and looked around the room, "you wanna explain to me what the hell's going on with you and Tony?"
"Not really, just a misunderstanding, and the fact that I was alone for Christmas Eve," I sighed, and smiled at the kids running around, and laughing. Laura was busy trying to get the baby down for a nap, but her chattering kids and laughter from everyone, made it difficult, "it'll be fine James, and your mom hasn't changed, one bit. It's actually kind of nice, I've missed her."
"Yah, she's missed you too, and don't be surprised if she camps out longer than the rest of us, she hasn't layed into you yet about not visiting, or calling," he warned, but looked at his mom with love and a smile.
"I would expect nothing less," I agreed, and followed his gaze to her grey head, and bright brown eyes. She had on an old Christmas sweater, and black pants. The headband I gave to Natasha, sat over her gray head, and she'd been wearing it for the last hour, "I'm gonna go see if Laura needs some help." I mentioned, and headed to the couch. I plopped down next to her, and looked down at the fussy baby, wiggling in her arms.
"This one's gonna be a handful when he gets older," she sighed tiredly, but glowed as she looked at his little chubby face.
"I had the spare rooms set up, if you want to lay him down, FRIDAY, can watch over him, while you enjoy yourself," I offered, and gave her arm a gentle nudge.
"Maybe later, but can you hold him for a minute, so I can grab a glass of wine, I can only have one, but I'm dying for some of that red," she asked, and placed Nathaniel in my arms before I could answer.
"Oh, okay, and there she goes.." I stuttered. He was so light, and small, and I couldn't help but smile at the little noises he was making, "well look at you kiddo, aren't you handsome."
