The jet doors opened as Tony landed next to the jet, and removed his helmet, "did you miss me?" He asked, winking at me. His jovial energy towards me wasn't what I expected after I saw him in his tower, but his smile grew bigger as his suit fell away, while Captain Rogers and Thor moved Loki down the ramp in shackles.
"You sounded worried earlier, when you yelled out for me," Tony asserted, as his brown eyes fixated on my face, and his smirk grew more petulant, but I was fixated on keeping my body from heaving, and convulsing once Loki's eyed roamed over me.
I tensed, and almost whined with th4 bombardment of insanity and evil once Loki's body stood next to mine, instantly forcing me to take a few steps away from the sickness clinging to him.
My stomach protested, and my chest constricted, making it hard to breathe, but the urge of release startled me.
My confusion rippled through me, but I couldn't think about that shit right now, I needed to be prepared, always prepared for hell coming closer.
"Of course it was worry, worry for Nat and Captain Rogers getting killed by your flyboy shit," I muttered, and briefly closed my eyes at the amount of emotions roaring in my ears.
I had half a mind to just walk away and head back to the deck, but I fell in line, and kept my shaky disposition to myself, but Phil stepped between Tony and I, reigniting the same anger, I saw in the tower, in Tony's eyes.
"No more games brother," Thor demanded, pushing Loki forward and into the hands of Phil.
"Stark, you can join Dr. Banner in the lab, the sceptor will be delivered to the both you within the hour. Fury wants to know what it is," Phil stated, moving Loki in between our agents, only for Tony to roll his eyes, but the smirk faded from his lips, once I stepped closer to Phil.
Jesus christ, I couldn't deal with Tony and his lunacy, not with my trepidation already making it hard to breath, but I forced a smile onto my face once Thor came to a stop in front of me, and smiled.
"Thor it's nice to see you that your brother was lying about your supposed death, but how's the jaw?" I asked, moving towards the middle of our agents, and watching Loki's back.
Thor's smile brightened, and I couldn't help but smile back, while I nudged his arm.
"My jaw's fine shield-maiden, it is nice to see you alive and well, I hoped you survived the ordeal in New Mexico, and it is to see you son of Coul," Thor boomed, and nodded his blonde head.
"What happened to you in New Mexico?" Tony questioned, as Nat scoffed, and raised her eyebrow.
"I have a few new scars Odinson, but I'm glad you're here, and you're still handsome as ever," I quipped, ignoring Tony's questions, as Thor chuckled.
I kept up with Loki's slow procession, while agent Hill's voice came through my ear piece.
"Fury wants the team briefed in twenty, on the bridge," she ordered.
"Copy that, we're in-route to the holding cell, Director be advised," I replied, moving with the agents and Loki, as we made our way through the carrier.
"Boys, I'll take you to the bridge, the boss wants you debriefed," Nat interjected, not even bothering with Tony who was following us and Loki.
"Be advised, we're passing Dr. Banners lab," I called out, almost suffocating myself with fear, the closer we got to Bruce, "prisoner, keep your head and eyes forward," I snapped, once a sick smile crossed Loki's lips while we began passing the glass walls of the lab.
I instinctively put my hand on his chin and pushed Loki's head forward, but quickly let go, once dark flashes of light, screams, and images too fast to see passed my vision. His skin was cool to the touch, and smooth as marble, but it made my stomach turn in circles with apprehension, even after I wiped my hand on my pants, and moved a few inches back. I was so disturbed by his skin and the images, I barely noticed Tony, breaking off and exploring on his own, or both Thor and Coulson watching me.
"Do you miss your archer, shield-maiden?" Loki asked, while we passed by the lab, but I stayed focused on my footsteps, still feeling his stare sear my skin, "ah, you're stronger than most of your colleagues, why is that?" The dark god asked, "make no mistake, there is a darkness in you, isn't there, my precious shadow."
I nearly stumbled once I heard the loving nickname my grandmother had called me since I was four years old.
My eyes quickly glanced at Dr. Banner, who looked up from his work, and watched our procession.
I tried not to react to what Loki said or the reflection of his smiling face in the glass, but I struggled to keep my feet moving. Phil, must of noticed my sweat covered face and unease, because he stepped up next to me, shoulder to shoulder, and leaned against my arm, until we finally walked passed the lab and arrived at the large metal doors that led into a holding cell.
"Is that love and fear I smell in the air Agent (l/n)?" Loki asked, smiling, "hmmm, it amazes me you can function under all that pain, all those impenetrable shadows, but I sense you are most used to it, and the darkness in you helps, such a waste of power that flows through you.."
"Fuck you, and you're full of shit," I blurted out, surprising the team trailing behind us.
"Enough," Phil barked, surprising me. I'd never heard him use that particular angry tone of voice before. Well, maybe once, while he was training me, but never in front of a prisoner.
"Agent (l/n), please join the team on the bridge, now," Coulson stated, grabbing Loki and leading him towards Director Fury.
