"Since we kinda like each other, isn't this where you tell me to be careful, then swoon like some damsel?" Tony cooed as we loaded up on the jet. His suit shined in the dull morning light, and a small smile spread over his lips, while Steve and most of the team were quiet behind me, ready to head to New York then Korea.
"I have never once swooned, unless I see Jensen Ackles, then I'll definitely swoon?" I rebuked, only to laugh once Tony's smile dropped, "aww...fine you big baby, please be careful Tony," I mocked and batted my eyelashes, "but if we need you in Seoul, then you better get there."
"Yes ma'am," he replied, "this is just a thought, and since we spent a good amount of time making out earlier, I bet if I had a good luck kiss, it might make my trip to Oslo a little faster."
"Wow, Tony," I giggled, enjoying the levity before we jumped into the fire, "what the hell's the matter with you."
"Am I gonna have to start carrying one of those spray bottles around, so I can spray you guys when you get like this now?" Clint rebuffed, and headed up the ramp.
I flipped him off, and grabbed a hold of Tony's suit, and pulled him towards me. Our eyes met, and everything quieted around us. The pull was there, like it'd always been, but for once I wasn't scared of the aftermath of kissing him, or holding his hand. For all I knew, there may be no tomorrow, and he anchored me. In those few hours earlier he caught me, and comforted me, the questions and anguish disappeared for a while, and there was no turning back. I didn't want too. So, I gently pecked his lips, taking in his smell and warmth.
"Good luck, and be careful," I whispered, after I backed away and headed up the ramp.
"Always babe," he snickered, "but you're the one who should be careful, super powers and all, call if you need something," he added and flew off, leaving me a little surprised at his nonchalance when it came to whatever ability I had. It was that nonchalance and promises, not only from him, but Steve and Red that gave me strength, and urged me forward. I was still scared shitless, but leaned on their faith.
"Now you ready, or you need some time to melt some more?" Clint asked, as the doors closed behind me.
"Why you mad bro?" I snickered, and sat down at one of the computers.
"I think I liked you better when you weren't getting any," Clint laughed, and nudged my shoulder, as I scoffed.
"ETA to the tower about thirty minutes, if you need to load up on anything else do it fast," Steve exclaimed, "we need to get to Korea as soon as possible, and get that cradle back to the tower."
"Yes sir," I saluted, but Cap grabbed my arm, and steered me towards the back of the plane, "Steve?" I asked, growing worried at the pensive look on his face, as the plane headed for New York, "what's going on?"
"Just wanted a minute to apologize for earlier," he admitted, and gave me a small smile, "I..I don't know what possessed me to say.."
"Yes you do," I sighed, but grabbed his hand in solidarity. There were plenty of times I snapped at him during to stress, and I didn't blame him one bit, "you were tired, upset, and lashed out, I don't blame you..I can't imagine having to see what you did..," I added, but shook my head, "no actually, I can to an extent, but we're here now, you and me, and I'm better prepared..I still don't know what happened in that ship, but it effected me too.."
"I know, and I'm glad it wasn't as bad for you, but..," he lamented, and looked towards the front of the plane.
"Hey, we'll be alright, I'm alright, Tasha's fine, and as long as we're together we'll beat this," I decreed, and met his gaze head on, "remember what I told you..trust in my rage, and trust me..I don't know what's happening to me, but it's gotten me this far, and I refuse to lose you or anyone, that alone will guide me forward..do you understand..?" I asked, and squeezed his hand, as he smirked and nodded his head.
"I trust you, pfff, you're one of the only ones I do trust, and I believe you," he replied, as Red crossed her arms over her chest.
"You liar, you trust me too, what the hell Rogers," she scoffed, but sent him a small smirk, before sitting down next to Bruce.
"You trust all of them, even Tony, granted you're probably still mad as hell, I am too, but we'll fix it," I mumured, putting all my hope into that one sentence, because I had to believe it.
I was still confused, littered with questions, but had a job to do, a path, and I wouldn't deviate from it, till the job was done. Ultron needed to be destroyed, and hopefully Tony and Bruce would learn from their mistake. Oh, it was a good idea, and had a deep seeded reason behind it, but if Tony didn't mention the reasons why to Steve, it wasn't my job or secret to tell.
"We do this together," I remarked, using the same words Steve used just days ago in the lab, and reached for him, but stopped, when he cleared his throat.
All of a sudden the small kiss we shared on the dance floor flashed across my mind, and I noted I hadn't apologized or said anything about it. We had so much other shit going on, but it made me wonder if I'd hurt him, or made him uncomfortable, which was made more prevalent once he let go of my hand. Our relationship had pretty much stayed the same, and I hoped it wouldn't change once things calmed down.
"I know, I know," he sighed, and wiped his face.
"Um okay then, this isn't the time to bring this up, not with all this shit going on, but I wanted to apologize for my drunken indiscretion at the party," I confessed, and dropped my gaze when he froze, "you know I love you right, but I..I just wanted to say I'm sorry for putting you in that position..and tell you I'm never drinking again.."
"Uh, yah, weird time to bring that up, but it was kinda awkward, but after all you've been through, and how upset you were, I guess I can forgive you," he mumbled, and tipped up my chin, "and I care about you too, but the last thing I need is Stark trying to kill me..which I thought was a possibility that night.."
"Nu uh, but be that as it may, he kinda deserved it," I giggled shyly, and went ahead and wrapped my arms around him, "seriously Cap, I think we'll be alright..trust me."
"I think Bruce needs a hug too," Red called out.
