"Another five minutes boss," FRIDAY called out.
"You said that five minutes ago," he snickered, and popped his neck, "and where'd the storm come from?"
He didn't waste any time when the plane landed, and just jumped into his car and followed the GPS through town, but as he drove he thought about what he was doing?
Flying across the country because she thought the worst. In situations like these, and he'd been through plenty with Pepper, he'd usually just let it go, and wait till it blew over, but this was different. He honestly didn't know if he was mad, or scared that (y/n) really believed what she saw in those pictures of him and Pep. All he knew for sure was that he couldn't let their conversation end the way it did, and he hoped she knew just how important she was, by him traipsing across the U.S., but he also knew how hard it was for her when it came to dealing with the ghosts of her past, and regardless if she was pissed, facing the past was something no one should face alone, well except him.

The tinted windows kept his disgruntled face from the people pulling up beside him at stop lights, but his car grabbed almost everyone's attention. The small town of Oceano looked like any town you would find on the map. It still gave off a homely small town vibe, but he eyed the expensive shops and tall country town homes dotting the landscape as he drove by.

It wasn't till he was forty-five minutes outside of town that he saw the large pastures of green grass, large oak trees, swaying in the strong winds, and mountains. It was beautiful in a sense that it felt like home, her home.
He smiled as he remembered (y/n) talking about the lush mountains, and tall trees which always had leaves on them. All of it just reminded him how much he wanted a home, and a family, but his own needs were overshadowed by hers.
Growing up, his mom was the only one who created a home. His dad was Howard Stark, and his mom, while she gave him everything he could ever want, love and affection, it took it's toll on her, which forced him out into the real world at such a young age. Then after his parents died, he spent years never really feeling at home anywhere, but in his work.
He planted seeds in Malibu, but felt more comfortable in his lab, and Stark Industries, working more than anything else.
His tower was his home, and people filled it, but never enough to where it felt like a home, except when (y/n) was in it, which made him feel guilty about his time with Pepper. She really tried, they both did, but...
He shook his head, and repeatedly tried to come to terms with the different emotions bursting in his chest.
How could someone make him change everything so quickly?
She didn't know she helped curb some of his demons, not all of them, but he needed to catch her before their situation got worse. He hoped she would finally understand what he needed, and it was her.
Telling people what he wanted was easy. I want this, or get me that..,but telling someone what he needed, especially a woman, a hardheaded one? Now, that was hard, but he was going to try with her. She was worth it.
