Flits of consciousness came in and out....along with immense amounts of pain...

"She'll pull through Nat," Clint's voice was fuzzy, but I heard it, while I tried to move and open my eyes, but my body didn't feel like my own, "Fury's actually quite surprised with how she handled everything and what she's accomplished. She knew..before we did.."
"Sh...ld we call.... S...rk?" Nat's voice faded.

A dense fog penetrated my mind lifting for just a bit then crashed down, enveloping me in darkness and agony. I didn't know what was going on, or how much time had passed, and it seemed like I spent more time in the damned hospital these last couple of months than anything else.

"Agent Coulson, we were able to repair her lung, and the burns are healing. She also has two broken ribs, which punctured her lung in the first place, but they've been set," the doctor murmured, "she's very lucky that my new medical team has made quite a few advances this past year, which should help her recover quite quickly, but like I said, she's very lucky."

"Stubborn is probably more accurate," Coulson replied, as he stood at the foot of her bed, and watched her bandaged chest breathe in and out, "when can she be safely moved, Dr. Cho?"

"In another thirty-six hours, we already have a jet standing by to fly you and her back to Washington," the doctor replied, "Agent Barton has already begun to move everything, and the desert should be cleared within the next twenty-four hours."

"Good, alert me if anything changes, and I mean anything," Coulson demanded, refusing to move from her room, but he had work to do.
Coulson looked down at her one more time, before touching the sheet over her feet, and leaving the room.
He stood in the hall of the makeshift facility, and took a deep breath, still trying to come to terms with the obvious worry that had plagued him since he saw the blood spewing out of her mouth, and her struggle to breathe, but it was more than that.
He noted how her eyes changed in the presence of the hammer and Thor, she was able to move the hammer herself, even if it was just a few centimeters. That alone was cause enough to dig a little deeper into her background, but she also warned him before everything exploded, and her internal struggle once she found out who Thor was didn't go unnoticed by him.
She was scared, for reasons unknown to him. He made Fury privy to her unease, and her ability to read the situation, along with the info she was able to acquire, but there was something else coming into play when it came to (y/n), and he was worried what that would mean for her.
She could of died, all because she was worried about the civilians and followed his orders to go into town.
It was her job to do just that, but he didn't realize how strong, or quick his worry and need to save her was, till it hit him out there in the middle of the desert.
He shook his head, and cleared his throat. It made him uncomfortable to think of her that way, especially after her recent fallout with Stark, but it was there, the same flicker he felt almost two years ago, as well as, whatever was happening to her.
