I yawn as I close the notebook that I had spent all night writing in, just to come up with a shitty intro to a shitty song that would never be recorded.

In a cold and dusty hotel room
The lights seem to flicker, their lives
Away

A young girl sits on a box
Gazing through a stained window
Tears melt down her face
She says to herself
"Why can't I be more like him?"
"Be the one he loves at night"

The tears continue falling as the door opens
Her love walks in, a bottle in hand
She knows what's coming, but never moves
Never runs from the heavy blows
The glass breaking in her back
She sits on the box, blood staining her skin
He stands there, yelling as if she is deaf

"Why didn't you come when I called!?"
"Why did I have to meet you in that bar the first night!?"
"Why can't you see that I love him more than I ever would you!?"

And as he continues to spew his venom in her face
She pulls something from her pocket
The thunder then rolls
Her love is dead on the floor

I throw the notebook to the floor,"Dammit..how does he do it!? Why the fuck is it so hard!?"
Rob picks the notebook up, flipping it to the page I was writing on,"This is amazing. How'd you come up with this?"
I shrug,"Eh..it just came to me, I guess...."
"What's wrong?"
"It just doesn't have a very Linkin Parkish flow....."
"Eren. It's just words on paper...of course it doesn't have the flow yet. We need to make it real. Need to make it click."
"Rob. You don't understand. I'm no Mike Shinoda. I can't bend ink and turn it to silk like he can. I'll never be able to."
"Eren. Listen to me. You can bend words. You can invoke feelings that none of the six of us can. You are Mark Wakefield's daughter. You have a gift that Mike wishes he had. And I want you to remember that."
"R-really, Rob?"
"Yes. And I mean every word of what I just said."
I smile slightly.
Rob kisses me,"I love you, Eren. Never forget that."
