I close my eyes, letting my fingers find their way up and down the neck of my guitar,"Tell us all again, what you think we should be. How to fall in line. How to do what you say."
Rob stammers,"She's playing Guilty All The Same!!"
Brad walks over,"I'll take these back," he smiles as he plucks the headphones off my head,"by the way, nice job."
I look at him, my head bent over the arm of the couch,"I was using those!"
Joe chuckles,"Somebody's jealous because he got outdone by a girl."
I smile, effortlessly slowing the tempo of my guitar, playing a beautiful slow melody,"I'm digging us a hole to travel through. I wanna find a way to rattle you. You want to hear the thunder hit? You're gonna have to follow me under it." I stop singing for a moment, just long enough to flash everyone a smile,"Let go, it's begun. Just as the first night turns to day, and the world gets underway. You say you'll never leave. But I don't have a reason, and you don't have the time. So I'm left, feeling so faithless, lost under the surface. I'm digging us a hole to travel through. You wanna find a way to rattle me? Yeah. Tough luck. If you wanna hear the thunder hit, you're gonna have to follow me under it." I stop, the final notes fading from my mind.
Phoenix stammers as he picks his jaw up off of the floor,"That, my friends, is how a reboot is made."
Mike clears his throat,"Is that what you were planning on doing with it, Eren?"
I shrug,"I wrote it more as a piece to honor my dad, but we can do a reboot, if y'all want."
"Well..you wrote it. What are you calling it?"
I smile,"Breaking Through."
Chester smiles,"Huh... I have an idea."
Oh dear God. Chester has an idea, I thought as I set my guitar down beside me, "Let's hear it."
"Mike, do you think we could tweak it and then have her do it at a few gigs?"
Mike looks at us thoughtfully for a minute, then smiles,"I don't see why not. What do you guys think?"
