Mike's POV:
I brush a piece of El's hair behind her ear. We're at her house, laying on the grass in the backyard, just looking at each other. El is looking at me smiling while tracing small patterns on my arm. "You're so beautiful", I tell her. She bites her lip and look at the sky suddenly sad.
"Mike?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think you would've loved me if I didn't have powers? Because we only met because of them, and I just... I feel like the only reason you kissed me that day was because of my powers", El whispered. I could barely hear her. I stand up and look at her surprised. El stands up as well.
"I love you okay? I didn't kiss you, that day, because of your powers! I did it because I had feelings for you, and you know what? We would have met even if you didn't have powers. Because we're supposed to be together", I tell her. "I wouldn't care if you lost your powers right now, I would still love you".
El was crying and throws herself at me. I catch her and El has her legs around me. She keeps saying 'I'm sorry', over and over again. I kiss the tears on her cheeks away until she stops crying.
"I love you", she says breathlessly. I smile and kiss her.
Dustin's POV:
I was walking around town after buying a bracelet for Sally. She's coming home for the weekend. Suddenly I hear a bunch of laughter coming from an alleyway. I look down the alleyway to see Mason and his friends. They're drinking and smoking something.
One of the guys hands Mason a syringe. Mason looks at and laughs; "With this I'm hundred percent sure I can get El". My eyes widened and I walk closer to them.
"What does it do?", one of his other friends ask leaning against the wall. "It will make her see things that aren't there. She will see her worst nightmare, and when she's not high any more, I'll be there to save her", Mason says smugly.
I gasp and run away as fast as possible. I run and run to Mike's house. I knock on the front door hard and wait for someone to open the door. Mrs. Wheeler opens the door and smiles when she sees me. "Hello Dustin, how are you doing?", she asks opening the door.
"I'm doing fine. Where's Mike?", I ask taking a deep breath. Mrs. Wheeler looks at me worriedly.
"He's not here. Mike told me he would go to El's house", she tells me. I thank her and start running to Will and El's house.
Eleven's POV:
Mike and I were still outside but it was beginning to be cold. "Mike can we go inside? It's really cold", I tell him shivering. Mike carries me inside to the couch. He sits down with me on his lap. He wraps a blanket around us and I sigh while laying my head on his shoulder.
"El I-", Mike gets interrupted by a knock on the door. Mike removes me from his lap and stands up. He walk over to the door and opens it. "Hey Dustin?", Mike says questioningly.
Dustin runs into the living room. "Thank god El is here", Dustin says sitting down on the couch tiredly. I look at him weirdly. "And why wouldn't El be here?", Mike asks now standing in front of Dustin.
"I overheard a conversation between Mason and his friends", Dustin says. I froze and look at Mike. He looks shocked and confused.
"What did he say?", he asks taking a deep breath.
"One of his friends handed him a syringe with something. He wants to inject El with it. It's some drug that will make El see things that aren't there, her worst nightmares. And then when she's not high any more he wants to 'save' her. He thinks that she's going to be in love with him after that", Dustin says in one breath.
I look down a little and close my eyes. I can hear Mike freaking out and Dustin trying to calm him down. "I swear to god if he touches El I'll-", Mike gets interrupted. "Mike calm down!", Dustin says.
"Mike", I say quietly. Apparently he heard because he hugs me. I hug him back and inhale his scent. It always calms me down to know he's right next to me.
"He won't get close to touching you. I promise you", he tells me. I open my eyes and look at Dustin.
I trust Mike, Mason won't ever get close to me.
