"Red, let's go. It's getting late"

"Okay, Fia. I'll be right there"

I stare at the lake from the top of the wooden bridge where I scattered her ashes. I picked this place bilang head ng funeral nya. Everyone are present to bid her one last goodbye.

Yes, Starr died in that car accident.

It's hard for me to remember exactly what happened for the past three days dahil ang paulit ulit ko lang naaalala ay ang gabing kasama ko sya sa bahay ko at ang pangakong binitawan nyang babalik sya.

"Red! I'm here at the hospital. S-Starr is..."

"Nasan sya?? Nasan si Starr! Gusto ko syang makita! Dito?? Saan?!" I asked Shen as soon as I reached the hospital.

"Red calm down!"

"How can I calm down?! Sabihin mo nga! You told me over the phone that she died! Pano ko maniniwala dun sige nga?! Nurse! Nasan si Starr?!"

A hard slap in my face startled the nurse while my suppressed anger grows as I look at Shen.

"She's dead! Wala na si Starr! Bakit ba ayaw mo pa ring maniwala sakin?! Sa tingin mo ba magiimbento ako sa ganitong lugar at sitwasyon?!"

"How can you say those things just like that, huh?? Si Starr ang pinag-uusapan natin dito! Bestfriend mo yang sinasabi mong namatay! Hindi ka ba kinikilabutan man lang sa sinasabi mo?! How can she die when she promised me she'll come back? She promised!!"

"Promises are meant to be broken" her lips pressed firmly.

"Her promises are different. She values it solemnly" she sighed.

"Ayoko sanang makita mo si Starr. I want you to remember her beautiful face pero mukhang wala na kong choice. Halika. Ipapakita ko sayo si Starr. Just don't blame me afterwards because of your stubborness"

Hinila nya ko at pinapasok sa pinakadulong pintuan ng pasilyo pero nanatili syang nasa labas at hindi na pumasok. I didn't see my precious Starr. But I'm seeing a burnt corpse I can't distinguish anymore. I feel my stomache turned upside down. Tatawagin ko sana si Shen para itanong kung nasan si Starr pero nahagip ng mata ko ang kumikinang na bagay sa kamay nun. Nilakasan ko ang loob ko na tinanggal ang necklace na kilalang kilala ko. I helplessly shed tears upon realizing that it is the Polaris necklace I gave her. Paglabas ko, hinang hina akong napaupo sa semento habang patuloy na umiiyak sa pagkawala nya.

"That's why I asked you to believe my words"

"H-How did she end up there, Shen? Bakit sya nakahiga dun in that pathetic state?? Bakit sya nandun??"

"Nag...nagkasagutan sila ni tita, her mom" my eyes widened but she look away. "I think, everything piled up at hindi na nya kinaya. Her arranged marriage, her past, even migrating. I think she's weary and hurt when the accident happened. Bumangga sya sa isa pang kotseng parating matapos daw nyang iwasan ang truck sabi ng mga investigators"

Hanggang ngayon, para pa rin akong nasa isang mahabang bangungot. I want to wake up. I want to see her again. I can accept if we're not destined in this life but it's hard for me to accept her death. Why is it so hard for me to be with you, Starr? That's just a small wish yet I'm fighting so hard...but you gave up and left me. You're really cruel, Starr.
