Okay guys, I get that many authors ask for constructive criticism, myself included. Personally, I think that getting feedback from your readers is an important part of Wattpad. For example, if I spelt a word wrong, or one of my sentences wasn’t grammatically correct, I would definitely want someone to let me know so I could improve my story. Also, it allows us to learn from our mistakes.
However, it’s another thing when someone comments something just plain rude on your story for no reason other than to hurt your feelings. I’m not saying that everyone has to like everyone’s stories, but personally when I come across a story I don’t enjoy, I exit the story without voting or commenting, and continue exploring new stories. It’s as simple as that.
Commenting things such as: “You’re a terrible author” or “hate this story” or even “Quit writing, you’re never going to get anywhere in life” is not constructive. It’s not helping the author improve their story. It’s simply rude.
If you don’t like the way an author is writing a story, but still think that it has potential, consider writing a comment like this “this chapter was good, but have you ever considered adding/changing ________” You might also want to send this as a direct message so the author can make changes to the story without the rest of their readers suspecting what’s coming next.
Basically, no one likes people who are rude/mean to others. I don’t see how people can ever feel okay when they know they have just ruined another person’s day.
Don’t be rude.
Oh, if you have ever had someone comment something mean on one of your stories, just remember they aren't worth your time.
