So, I decided to take a break from writing my original novel to type up this rant for you! If you, uh. *winks awkwardly* enjoy reading my rants, you should check out my new book, which will be hitting Wattpad March 22nd! And for your immediate reading pleasure, go read 'In This Together' which is a Hunger Games fan fiction!
Okay, so shameless self promoting aside, let's move on to the rant.
People who are constantly seeking attention. Oh, these people drive me crazy! And I have had to deal with a lot of these kind of people in my life.
TYPE NUMBER ONE: The Compliment Avoider
I'm sure we have all met these kind of people before, or at least I hope that it's not just me. Some people just don't know how to take compliments properly. Others are just seeking attention.
Example:
*This story takes place during art class*
Me: *Sits down*
Attention Seeker: Oh hey Emmalynn
Me: hey ___. Wow, that's a really great drawing of a (fish, dog, platypus etc.)
AS: Oh, no it's horrible
Me:.............
But seriously, that person is just waiting for me to go on and on about how fabulous their drawing is so they feel better about themselves. And I really don't feel like wasting my life building up their ego.
I normally respond to these kind of people by saying: "Well you can think what you want but I think your drawing looks great"
TYPE NUMBER 2: DISTRACTION CENTRAL
Please tell me everyone has known someone who says or does stupid things to receive attention. Maybe they interrupt the teacher during an important lesson for no apparent reason, or just never stop talking at all. Or maybe they tell jokes that no one wants to hear or think that are funny.
TYPE NUMBER 3: THE FAKER
This type is probably the most annoying in my opinion. People who fake injuries, illness or other situations going on in their life just to gain people's sympathy and attention are just... ugh they frustrate me so much. Don't do it, it's so disrespectful to people who are actually going through those things.
QUICK NOTE: I realize that people who are attention seekers usually have some reason for it, such as lack of attention at home or something, so if you are dealing with one of these people, please assist them with finding professional help, such as talking to a counsellor. That is a much more healthy (and less annoying) way of letting feelings out.
Okay, that's enough ranting. For now.
