Authors Notes

You know, some authors notes are really annoying. I mean, I'm fine with a couple lines at the end of a chapter of an author updating me on their life, but when an authors note is longer than the actual chapter, that's when I have a problem.

Hey guys! You'll never believe what just happened to me :( my boyfriend broke up with me! I know, crazy right? I mean, I'm perfect! What could have ever gone wrong with our relationship?

So I might not be updating for awhile. I'll be too busy eating ice cream and watching sappy movies.

Speaking of movies, what are your guys favourites? You should comment some suggestions, because I'm going to need them...

Like really? I couldn't care less about the little details of your life. I'm here because I like your story, not because I like you.

Okay that was harsh. I didn't mean for it to be harsh.

What I meant was, I'm not reading your story to know all the little details of your life. I'm reading it for the actual story.

I also hate when people do authors notes in the middle of their story.

Jenna yawned and stretched her hands towards the sky.

"I'm gonna go get some coffee before school starts," she decided.

<A/N> Do you guys prefer Tim Hortons or Starbucks?

Jenna grabbed her wallet and keys and headed out the door...

Really? It breaks up the flow of your story and is really awkward. Either mention it at the beginning, or leave it for the end.

At the end of the day, in an actual published book, you don't get to put an author note after every chapter. You only get one at the very end. That means you aren't going to be able to give weekly updates on your love life during your story.

What are your opinions on authors notes? Do you like when they are long, short, or do you prefer when they don't exist at all?

P.S. Thanks for almost 4k reads! Love you all :P
