I know this probably seems weird that I'm making this as a love instead of a normal rant. Usually when people think of change it has a bit of a negative connotation to it, but over my vast 15-almost-16 years of experience I have come to see change as something great.
Yeah, I know, change always seems hard at first. It's a lot easier to just live life the same way all the time. But I have been through a lot of different changes over my life, both big and small, and while at first I might have been upset about it, in the end I always end up happier.
Take high school, for example. Going into grade 9 was a huge change from grade 8. At first, I was really scared. Like, really, really scared. I didn't know anyone in any of my classes and I was really upset and hated school. But it only took a few weeks for me to meet a bunch of really awesome people and realize that I can still keep in touch with my old friends even if we don't have the same classes. And these new friends have made me really happy.
And yeah, sometimes I still miss parts of grade 8. But overall, I love high school. I never would have had the opportunity to love it if it weren't for change.
Usually I am a very organized person. I wake up each day with a checklist of what I want to do and slowly check each item off the list.
French test: check
Careers project: check
Babysit: check
Write rant: check
And so on. So it might seem especially weird that I love something that disrupts the schedule that I have made for myself.
But that's exactly why I love change. It forces me to mix up my schedule and be less rigid. And the other thing about change is that it *sometimes* is reversible. Maybe not easily, but it's often possible to go back to the way things were before.
However, looking back on all the changes that have occurred in my life, there are little to none that I would actually want to reverse. Sure, a lot were hard at the time but overall now I am happy with them.
So yeah, change can be rough. But it builds character. I find that you discover who a person really is by the way they act during change, or a difficult time.
I hear people say all the time, 'People change' but I don't know if that's really true. I think people react to change in different ways, but it's the things that happen around the person that change, not the person themselves. I don't think it's necessarily possible for a person to change who they are. But that's another rant.
Point is: change can be difficult, but it's a part of life. It makes life exciting. Life would be boring if it was the same all the time. You often discover who a person really is by the way they react to change.
And that's why I love it :)
