I sat on the end of the table, facing everyone else as we ate our breakfast. Well, I was just sort of swirling my cereal round in the milk and creating a rainbow whirlwind. My head was resting on my arm which was leaning on the table. I'm so tired and I don't even have an excuse for it.
Everyone else was just sort of ignoring me. Probably bored of me fighting with them or scared I'll kick off again. It's not my fault. But in this moment I noticed how gross everybody eats! Like Tyler doesn't shut his mouth, at least three people loudly inhale every time they take a bite, it's gross! It's like I'm living with a load of wild animals!
Mai Lee came into the room with her arm around Mike, who was trailing his eyes along the floor. "Listen up guys" she said. "Mike has something she needs to say"
Everyone stopped eating and put their spoons and toast down. Jeez. It's probably nothing. He's probably just mad that someone blocked the toilet again or something. They make pointless announcements all the time. There's nothing special about this one.
"Umm, I have umm, had a call from another care home" he started. "One of their careworkers has had to leave suddenly, and, they've asked me if I can step up in their place"
"What? So you're leaving?" Asked Kazima. Mike slowly nodded.
"But you can't!" I yelled as I stood up.
"I'm sorry guys" he said sadly. "But I have to go. They need me"
"But we need you as well" pleaded Sasha.
"You're really giving up on us that easily?" Toni snapped.
"When do you leave?" Asked Joseph. Pretty much the only sensible reaction.
"They need me by tomorrow" he replied. "So today will be my last day"
Forget this. Mike is just another one of the people that I made the mistake of trusting. You can't trust anyone. Not truly. Not properly. Not a single person on this planet actually has your back and will always do what's best for you. I'm done with this.
I stormed off, barging past Mike on my way. He called after him and I ignored him until I had safely slammed my bedroom door. Out of rage I plonked myself down at my desk and grabbed the nearest marker pen then started scribbling hard on the wood of the desk. I'll probably get into loads of trouble for this.

*knock knock*
"YOU CAN'T COME IN!"
The door slowly opened. "I SAID..."
"I'm not in" said Mike calmly as he held his hands up in defence.
"Go away"
"Is that permanent marker?"
"Why should you care? You're leaving tomorrow. Why don't you go and play with the children that you actually like?"
"Now you know I care"
"Wouldn't be so sure"
He sighed. "Look, since I'm leaving, we're having a bit of a party tonight and takeaway is on me"
"I don't care"
"Some of the others are really getting into it. They're dressing up nice for it and everything"
"Good for them"
"So you really don't care then?"
"You get paid to care Mr Careworker! I don't!"
"Well, can I count on you to at least come to the party?"
"Uuughh!!" I got up, shoved him out of the room and slammed the door. I'm not going to the stupid party. Not even when they're bribing me with takeaway. Why would I go to a party to celebrate my careworker leaving? Who am I supposed to go to now?
