"Let's do something today" Luke announced to us all while we were still in the lounge. "To celebrate Carmen and Tee doing well at college"

"Nooo not another day out" I whined.

"What happened last time?" Carmen asked curiously.

"Marie sat out and was miserable the whole day" Jody commented.

"But, it was only because she wasn't feeling well" Tyler defended. "Right Marie?"

"Yeah." I lied.

"Well then what's the problem?" Luke asked.

"I'm just really tired. What did you have in mind anyway?"

"I was thinking bowling"

Everyone seemed to get excited over the idea. Everyone except me.

"Well that settles it. I'll give them a call" he stated. I sulked as he left the room with his phone in his hand.

Ryan stood up from beside me and held out his hand to me. I took it and he guided me out into the hallway.

"Ok what's going on?" He asked.

"What?"

"Why don't you want to go bowling? You usually love bowling"

"I just don't want to go ok?"

"Why not?"

"Because it's just another trip that will end up with me sitting out or on my own because I'm stuck out with all these people who wouldn't care if I dropped dead!"

"But I'll be there"

"I know, but then they see me as weak when you're always having to stick up for me"

"No they don't"

"They do"

"Well you shouldn't let that put you off"

"It's fine. I tell Mai Lee I'm feeling ill and ask if I can stay here"

"You're not staying here on your own, I'll stay with you"

"No Ryan, you go and have fun. You haven't had a chance to properly catch-up with Tyler and the others yet anyway. I'll be fine. And I'll have my phone so I'll text you if I need anything"

"I don't care about talking to Tyler. I'd rather be here spending time with you"

"Well I'll probably just go to bed and nap anyway. Like I said, I'm really tired so that's probably what's best"

"Well I'll stay and look after you"

"No really Ryan it's fine. I'm alright on my own"

He seemed to sulk for a second and looked almost disappointed. "Why don't you need me any more?"

"Of corse I need you" I said, squeezing both of his hands. "But if I'm going to be sleeping, I want to know that you're having fun"

"What if I don't want to have fun?"

"What?"

"What if I don't want to go either?"

"But Ryan, you love bowling. You love it a lot"

"Yeah well, not as much as I love spending time with you. And you're not there it won't be as good anyway. And I don't want the others asking me any questions. I also don't want to have to spend time with Tee"

"Well how are you going to get them to let you stay?"

"Easy. I'll just say I'm looking after you"
