Changed For The Better

Fight

Mai Lee called us for dinner. I really didn't want to go, but I am really hungry and I've missed Mai Lee's cooking. The last thing I ate came in through my nose in hospital.

Ryan lead us to the seats at the end of the table, and Chloe came and sat opposite us. She and Ryan both looked kind of bad. Like, Ryan had the bruise on his eye and I'm sure that isn't the only one. And Chloe had some scratches on her cheek and probably also elsewhere.

"Are, you guys good?" I asked awkwardly ad everyone else came and sat down.

"Yeah, we're good" Ryan smiled. I felt him take hold of my hand under the table, which made me smile at him.

"Are you guys good?" Chloe asked with a smirk.

"Yeah, we're good" we replied in unison.

"Does she know?" Asked Chloe in a much more serious tone.

Ryan and I exchanged glances. "She does" Ryan sighed. Chloe became visibly more uncomfortable.

"Chloe, I am so sorry to hear about what happened with Gavin, and your mum and..."

"It's ok. Besides, it's the same as what you went through, right?"

"Yeah...how did you know?"

"Ryan mentioned it a while ago"

I looked at Ryan who didn't really seem to react. "Not in a gossip way" Chloe explained. "You were upset one time, I can't remember when. Ryan told me so that I didn't say something to upset you"

"You don't mind, do you?" He asked, looking at me.

"Well no, but I hope you don't tell anyone else"

"No I haven't!" He quickly denied. "I just told Chloe because, well I don't really remember the scenario but it was necessary. Anyway, enough about the past, let's just focus on now"

"You're right" Chloe agreed.

"Yeah. Let's just relax and enjoy now. You never know when something is going to happen"

Everyone was round the table and I kind of felt like a lot of eyes were on us three. To be fair, we are the ones with all the drama going on recently. But just because I'm back doesn't mean I want to be here, and it doesn't mean that I like them again.

"So" began Tyler. "You guys are all back then"

We all just sort of nodded. It was obvious we were back. This was just a lousy way of him trying to start a conversation.

"Marie, where did you go?" Asked Jody. "You had us all worried sick and you left without saying anything."

"Jody!" Scolded Mai Lee.

"No! She left without a word and we were left to pick up the pieces! I think we deserve an explanation"

"Well I'm not obliged to tell you" I replied.

"Did you only come back because Ryan came back?!"

"No I didn't even know!"

"Do you know why he is back?"

"Jody that's none of your business" I retorted. She was really trying to wind me up, and it was working.

"Well it's clearly not yours but you still know. Does Ryan still like you? Only, you didn't get in touch with him when you left. You might have never seen him again, and you acted like that meant nothing"

"Jody leave me alone! It has nothing to do with you!"

"I know! But I'm only trying to help you! You really think you'll be able to stay in a relationship when you abandon all contact with everyone for your own selfish reasons!?"
