Marie's POV
I woke up when the chilly draft from the window came swooping over my face. I'll have to ask if there is anything we can do about that because I think that that's the reason why my room is always so cold! I looked to the ground to see the blanket that Agatha had made me was just sitting there in a clump, I must have dropped it off there in my sleep.
I sighed and felt no motivation to do anything, but then I remembered my plans for today and forced my fleshy prison to get up. It's gone ten anyway so it's kind of late. If I got up any later then there would be no point in having breakfast, even though I'm not hungry anyway.
I got out of bed and had a quick shower, making sure to pay special attention t my hair though, since it really was greasy and awful by this point. I then got dressed into some leggings, a t shirt and a massive hoodie, then went downstairs with the towel wrapped around my hair
Mike and Agatha were both busy getting on with their day. In fact Agatha was actually out and about, I don't know what she was doing. And Mike was sitting in his office working again. I feel a little sorry for him, he never seems to get a break from it. Looks like he cares a lot more than people ever thought. Maybe Luke and Mai Lee go through the same thing hen they don't work weekends.
I helped myself to a slice of toast and a glass of orange juice. Like I said, I didn't feel like eating much and we will be having lunch soon any way so if I eat a lot now I'll have to have lunch late, then dinner late, then I'll feel ill tomorrow morning when I have to have breakfast ridiculously early.
After eating my toast and drinking my juice, I went back upstairs and took my hair out of the towel. By this point it was sort of dry but not quite, and it was very puffy and frizzy and in general just not that great. I sighed as I looked at it in the mirror before reaching for my brush and combing through it.
While my hair is like this, it gets really really straight. I don't know why though because it never dries straight! It always ends up sort of wavy again which I sometimes love and sometimes hate. It depends on the weather.
I looked outside. It's wet and rainy, as per usual. so since I am trying to have a serious talk with Ryan, not in a bad way, I want my hair out of the way. I took the hairdryer and dried my hair which took a while. Then I borrowed Agatha's straighteners and straightened it. She isn't here, but I am sure she won't mind. I mean, I hope she doesn't. I don't want to upset her.
After I was done with them I put them back where I found them. Well, once they had cooled down. I do not need another fire to add to the list of those which I have been involved in to be honest. Nobody should ever even have a list, but here we are.
Once I was all sorted with that, I got a bobble and tied it back and out of my face in a ponytail. Now it won't get in my face, and I'll actually be able to cover all of my hair with my hood, which normally I can't do.
By the time I was fully sorted, Mike had already started calling me down for lunch. I hope he hasn't cooked anything. Not that I am ungrateful, just because Mike really is a bad cook. Like seriously I don't get how you can mess up that badly but he somehow does every single time.
I got down into the dining room to see he had made us noodles with chicken and some vegetables. Even Mike can't have messed this up. I smiled at him as we both went to sit down and started to eat my food.
"Wow Mike, this is actually really good"
"Oi don't sound too surprised" he laughed.
"Can you blame me?" I smiled, he laughed along, even though I was being half serious.
"So, have you got any plans for today? I mean you're up and dressed so surely you must"
I didn't know how to take that. He might have just been kidding or maybe I really am that bad. I decided to ignore it.
"Yeah actually I think I'm going to pop round to the dumping ground and see everyone"
"Really?" He asked in shock.
"Yeah...why is that such a surprise to you?"
"I just didn't expect that to be your plan. Why now? Well I know you miss them of course you do, but why visit them now when it's been so long?"
"I just feel like I need to make more of an effort to stay in touch with everyone"
"Everyone...?"
"Yes Mike, everyone. They were all my friends at one point, like Mai Lee was to you. Maybe you should go back and visit them all too. I'm sure they would love to see you again"
"Ah you know I would but I have a load of paperwork to be getting on with and it needs to be done today. Maybe another time"
Honestly, what is with Mike always making the excuses and getting out of things. Mind you he has been busy in his office all morning so maybe he really does have work to be getting on with. Still though, he's been gone for longer than I have and he hasn't visited once.
I know what it felt like to have him disappear all of a sudden, and never hearing from him after that only made it harder to deal with. The others must all still feel like that. Maybe apart from Ryan, because he never really had a good relationship with Mike. They had to really try to get along with each other. I never fully understood why.
