Not Looking Great

I woke up again in Ryan's bed, but this time I was alright. It was morning and light was coming in through the curtains. I could feel Ryan gently playing with the ends of my hair. I looked up to see him smiling down at me.

"Are you okay baby?" He asked.

"I'm fine" I said. "It was just another nightmare"

"Oh no, that's the worst. You wanna tell me what it was about?"

"It was about you"

"About me? I didn't hurt you did I? Because you know I would never do that in real life..."

"No no, nothing like that"

"Go on, what happened?"

"You were like a ghost, and another ghost came and hit you and hurt you until you fell away, then they tried to hurt me. But I woke up"

"Look, I can see that what's happened recently has caused you a lot of stress, but I'm alright now. I'm safe here and so are you"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. Anything you want"

"That bruise on your eye, is it the only one?"

He sighed. I shouldn't have asked. I'm such an idiot. "No, it isn't"

"Are there many more?"

"Only a few"

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything"

"It's alright. You have every right to be curious. I would be the same"

"I just want to know the story so I can be delicate with it. I know what Luke and Mai Lee told me, but I didn't know if that was the full story"

"Honestly Marie its fine. I don't mind you knowing the full story because I trust you not to tell everybody else"

"I never would"

"Exactly. Anyway, shall we go oxen for breakfast before it finishes?"

I nodded my head and started to get out of bed. It's weird how comfortable we are around each other having been apart for a while. Is that weird?

Anyway, he took my hand and we happily walked down to breakfast. I'm really tired for some reason. I know I woke up in the middle of the night, but I also slept in longer than usual which should have made up for it.

When we reached the kitchen, everyone else was already sat down and almost finished eating. This is a little awkward. I looked at Jody who was smiling smugly in her seat where she sat between Tyler and Finn.

Ryan pulled me towards the opposite end of the table and we sat down. Despite the face I was hungry, I really did not feel like eating anything. The thought of eating made me feel a bit sick.

"What's wrong?" Ryan asked.

"Aww is Ryan concerned for his giwlfwend?" Jody asked.

"Don't start" Ryan said in an agitated tone. She backed down and carried on eating her toast. Out of nowhere, the doorbell rang.

"Are we expecting anyone?" Luke asked nobody in particular. None of us lot knew anything about it but we assumed it was the postman or something. Mai Lee went to answer it.

Ryan reached for my hand under the table and gave it a tight squeeze as I took a sip of orange juice. I can handle juice, I just really don't feel like eating. What's wrong with me?

"Look who's here!" Mai Lee chimes as she came back in with a smile on her face. We watched as two people entered from behind her: Carmen and Tee! I heard Ryan moan, and I kind of thought the same. It is good to see them though. I thought that whenever people left they didn't take a second look back.
