Should I visit Rob before his game or not? I wondered to myself while I sat in the studio. On one hand he needs to be focused, on the other, I know he wants to see me and I want to see him.
My phone rang and I took a break smiling at it when I saw Rob's name.
"Hey, how'd you sleep?" I asked
"It would have been a lot better if I could have came and stayed with you" he said, "but anyways. Are you stopping by before the game?"
"I wasn't sure if I should?" I asked. "I was going to this morning. But I thought you probably had a lot going on."
"Babe, you should have called. Why don't you come over and we can just hang out for maybe half an hour?"
"Alright" I said "I'm on my way over now."
"Hey, babe" Rob said trying to get my attention while I packed up my stuff and explained to the studio that I would be back in an hour.
"What?" I asked as I walked to the car.
"I love you" Rob said
"I love you too, I'll be there soon, okay?"
I used the room key he gave me to get into his room.
"I expected you to stop by for coffee this morning" Rob said walking over hugging me.
"I'm sorry, I would have, I just thought you were busy" I said. "What can I do? What do you need?" I ran a hand through his hair.
"I just want to lay down and relax" Rob said laying down on the bed.
"Okay" I said snuggling into him.
We laid there for awhile and I just closed my eyes enjoying this time with him.
There was a knock on the door that connected his room to the room next door and then it opened. Tom walked through the door, "sorry, I just am not used to you being quiet" Tom said with a laugh. "I thought something might be wrong."
"I'm all good" Rob said
"Hey Tom" I said, "do you two need to talk. I'll go get a coffee."
Rob's grip tightened.
"No you two are good, I'm just used to him going up and down the hallway yelling. I wasn't sure what was wrong, but clearly he's being well taken care of." Tom laughed closing the door.
"Rob, do you have things you should be doing?" I asked running my hand across his chest.
"Nope," he said, kissing me, "god, blondie it's been so long."
He nibbled on my neck, "Rob, not before your game" I said. As his hand played with the hem of my shorts.
"Caroline, I think you might be just the boost I need" Rob said "I can be on the bottom so I conserve energy." He gave me a goofy smirk and I couldn't help but laugh.
I got up and looked at the schedule tapped to his wall, "you have a meeting in ten minutes" I said "you better get moving."
I stood in front of the mirror fixing my hair.
"Listen, after the game you get right down on that field, okay?" Rob wrapped his arms around me from behind.
"Rob, I'm going to see you next weekend. It's not like it's going to be weeks" I'm not sure if I'm reassuring him or me.
"I know, it's just so easy being in the same city" Rob said, "it's weird like I know I can call you and you're fifteen minutes away."
"Rob you know that if you really needed something you can always call me and I'd be on the next flight" I said
"I do, but it's not like I really needed anything. I just wanted to cuddle" he said.
This melted my heart, is it time to move to Boston?
"You can always call me though" I said.
"I know, come on, I'll walk you out. I have to board the bus anyways." Rob said planting his hand on the small of my back.
"Hi, Caroline" coach Belichick said pulling me in for a hug.
"I'm just going to walk her to her car and then I'll be right on the bus. You go on ahead. Now I understand why you were yelling up and down the halls a half an hour ago" he patted him on the back before getting on the bus.
"Rob you don't need to walk me to my car" I insisted.
"You're right, I don't need to, I want to" he said opening the door.
I followed him outside. "You just go focus on the game, I know you're going to do great" I said giving him a kiss.
"You go work on music. I'll see you in the stands, and I'm looking forward to giving you a good kiss after the game" Rob said
"Rob, remember let's try to keep the PDA to a minimum" I said getting in the passenger seat.
"Right" he said.
"Bye, I love you, I know you'll do great" I said
"Love you too" he said. I closed the passenger door. Watching his butt walk to the bus in my side mirror.
I rolled my neck as we took off, "they sure were shocked with your exit at the studio" James said
"It's his first game of the year, he's top priority for like two hours" I said
The game went by and I flinched every time Rob got hit. I walked down onto the field. Wrapped Rob in a hug. "You go ahead and go home okay" he said looking at me, "I have to do interviews and then I'll get on the bus to fly out."
"I'll wait to get to spend a few minutes with you after you shower" I said
"I won't have time, I have to do interviews" Rob said. "I'll see you next weekend."
"Okay" I said letting him walk off into the sea of players. I headed to the car with James, pulling my hair up in a pony.
When we got back to my apartment as Roxy jumped up onto the couch next to me. I felt tired, it had been an emotionally exhausting day for me watching Rob from the stands. Every time he got hit I stared waiting to see if he would get up.
It's a Sunday night, all I really want right now is to go curl up in bed with Rob, but here I am watching the news.
