This piece of writing is mostly for myself. I want this to act as my journal. I've always tried to see life from others' perspective. I think it's time to see it from mine. This can act as a rough draft of my life.

I have been watching this South Korean Survival show called Produce 48.
It is the third installment of the Produce series, the first two being called Produce 101. The main concept of the show is that the 'national producers' aka audience/viewers will 'produce' a project girl group/ boy group (depending on the season (the genders seem to alternate every season)) by voting for the members, their group name and their group concept.
So there are over a 100 girls or boys who participate in this show and they come from their respective companies/agencies. They participate in various rounds where they are divided into groups and at the end of each round, the groups have to perform in front of a live audience. There is a live voting at every performace day where a person or a group gets benefit points.
These benefits points help them get votes. There is a pyramid style ranking (based on total online votes) and after every round, all the ranks are declared up until the cut off mark and contestants falling below that rank get eliminated. I find this part quite brutal because in all the survival shows I've watched before this (eg. X Factor, Got Talent, etc), they've only eliminated 1 or two but this is mass elimination at each stage.
The pyramids look like this:

The non-eliminated participants sit according to their rank, which is recorded at every elimination round. The rank 1 participant gets to sit on top of the pyramid. These ranks change (drastically at times) after every round. Finally, a handful of girls/boys are voted as members of a temporary group which will debut and come out with music for a fixed tenure.
Produce 101 Season 1 girl group IOI with 11 members had a tenure of 1 year which got over in Jan 2017.
Produce 101 Season 2 boy group WannaOne with 11 members has a tenure of 1 and a half year which will end in December this year.
These two seasons were called 101 because there were 101 participants.
I'm following the show this year and things seem pretty different.
So the main change from the last two seasons is that this time, the participants are not just from South Korea. There are a total of 96 participants, 57 of which are South Koreans. The remaining 39 girls are members of the famous AKB48 group (along with their sister groups) from Japan. So this is a collaboration between Mnet (the company that makes the Produce shows and Akihabara (the founder of AKB48 groups).
