Jeremy had a massive problem. He was in love with his sisters boyfriend. He didn't know when it started, all he knew was that one day [name] had shown up and Jeremy hadn't been able to stop thinking about him. He hated it. He hated having to watch Elena and [name] act all lovey dovey.

When they kissed, Jeremy felt sick to his stomach and when [name] slept over to know doubt have sex with Elena, Jeremy would cry himself to sleep. It just wasn't fair. He wished he could ignore his feelings and fall for someone else. Someone who wasn't off limits to him.

He pulled the pillow over his head as he heard the sounds of laughing and giggling coming from his sisters room. He tried to drown out the noises, even if they were innocent because the more he listened the more he knew how happy they were together and the more he knew he didn't have a chance.

Did that make him a bad person? Wanting them to break to so he could swoop in and have his chance. Probably but he wanted to be selfish. He couldn't just ignore how he felt anymore. He frowned as he pictured [name]'s face. It took him another couple hours to fall asleep that night.

The next morning Jeremy was making his was out of his room and down the stairs. He heard shuffling coming from the kitchen and walked in, freezing when he saw who it was. That's right... [name] was here.

"Hey! Morning Jer. Want me to make you up a plate. Elena had to go out so it'll just be me and you for breakfast."

Jeremy sat down on the stool with an awkward smile, a delicious smelling plate of food being slid in front of him. It looked amazing and usually he would dig straight in but he wasn't particularly hungry at the moment.

"Is everything okay? You're being really quiet. You usually talk my ear off." [name] laughed.

Jeremy fake laughed back, not knowing what to say. "Uh, yeah. I'm just not feeling that great." He cleared his throat. "So, what are you plans for today?"

"I was supposed to be hanging out with Elena but I think she's going to be too busy hanging out with Stefan." He grumbled angrily, clenching his fork in his fist. "She seems to like spending time with him."

Jeremy knew that. When she wasn't with [name] she was with Stefan and it was obvious [name] didn't like it. Elena and Stefan had had an epic love, as he would say so he had good reasons to be jealous. "I guess that means you're free for today?"

"Yeah, why?"

"We could go out together. I mean... it's been ages since we just had a day to ourselves. You kinda forgot about me when you started to date my sister." Jeremy tried to keep his tone light and he thought he did a pretty good job at it.

[name] felt himself fill with guilt. Jeremy was his friend and when he got with Elena, he had been completely ignoring him. Wow. He was a bad friend. "I'm sorry dude. You're right but I'll make it up to you because today, it'll just be me and you."

"Really?"

"Really. I promise."

Hours later and Jeremy could honestly say he had had one of the best days. He and [name] had spent every second together and as they were watching a movie, Jeremy couldn't stop staring at him.

"What? Do I have something on my face?"

"No. You're just beautiful." It had just slipped out but Jeremy couldn't find himself regretting it. He was so over hiding how he felt. After the amazing day he had, he knew he couldn't keep it in. The other male looked at him with surprise. "You can't be that surprised. Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately?"

"Careful Jeremy. You sound like you're flirting with me."

"Maybe I am."

The room went silent. "Well, you can't do that, seeing as I'm dating your sister and it would probably really hurt her if she found out." He spoke slowly, hoping to get the message through.

"The problem is that I don't think I can stop thinking about you."

"Jeremy... stop. You can't say stuff life that." [name] stood up from the couch and started towards the door. "I should go."

"No! Please, don't go." Jeremy stopped him. "I know it's wrong for me to feel like this but I need you to know. I've hidden it for so long and I don't want to hurt Elena but I love you and I can't hide that anymore. I just, I need you to know."

"Know what? What do you want me to do now? Do you want me to break Elena's heart so we can be together? Want be to tell her that I want her little brother and not her?" His voice got louder and louder with each word he spoke. "She's been there for me through so much and I won't hurt her."

Jeremy glanced down at the ground, tears coming to his eyes. "Do you love me?"

"I can't answer that because if I do it'll just make everything so much more complicated." He stepped away from Jeremy. "I'm so sorry. I wish I could tell you what you want to hear."

"It doesn't matter." I'm used to hurting because of you, was what he wanted to say but he kept his mouth shut, not even being able to look at the other male in the eyes. "Maybe in a different life we could have been together."

The front door opened and Elena came strolling in with a smile on her face, "hey. Sorry I'm late... are you two okay?"

"We're fine." Jeremy answered quickly. "I'm tired. I'm gonna go to bed, leave you two alone." He ignored the calls of his name and walked up the stairs, collapsing on his bed as soon as he entered the room, tears pouring out of his eyes and silent sobs leaving his lips.
