Chapter 49: Could Have Died, Attack On Titan

"Are you an idiot?!" Levi screamed as they walked into the room, away from the others but that didn't mean the others couldn't hear what was going on, seeing as Levi was literally screaming.

"How many times can I say I'm sorry?! I saw there was an opportunity to kill the damn thing, so I took it. I'm not just going to run away and hide!" [name] yelled back. He knew he wasn't going to be able to have a civil conversation with Levi. Not when he was in his overprotective mode.

"If I wasn't there or if I hadn't seen you, than you would be dead by now. You were so overcome with wanting to kill that titan, that you didn't see the one that was coming up right behind you! Maybe I just won't let you come onto the next mission if I'm going to have to worry about you dying every two seconds." He knew Levi was being completely serious to.

"You can't take me off the next mission! Everyone makes mistakes and it just so happens I made one today but that doesn't mean you get to punish me. You're only acting like this because I'm your boyfriend, you wouldn't act like this with anyone else and that is stupidly unfair. You have to know that I'm going to make mistakes and as long as I have my team around me, than I will be fine. It's not like I haven't saved your ass a couple times either." He crossed his arms and gave Levi a look.

The older male sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. [name] knew he had made a dumb mistake, Levi had been reminding him every minute, but like he said, he was only human and he wasn't perfect. Levi just had to realise that he couldn't protect him twenty four seven and when their out of the field, he has to stop being so overprotective. When Levi was yelling at him in front of everyone, he felt like a little kid. It was embarrassing.

"You're acting like it's nothing. You could have died today. Do you understand that? If I had been busy, that titan would have killed you and I... I would have brought you back just to fucking kill you again for being so stupid." Levi growled out. "I can't lose you, you idiot."

"Levi... we're in danger every day. There's always a chance that one of us is going to die. We've lost so many already... I'm not going to lie to you and promise that I'll never get hurt because I can't, just like I wouldn't expect you to make me that promise. All I can say is that I'll be more careful and I trust you and the others to protect me as I protect you." He spoke softly now, trying to calm his boyfriend down.

He walked up to him and pulled him into his chest, making Levi push against his chest and glare at him. "I'm not just going to forgive you because you give me those stupid puppy dog eyes and act all cuddly. I'm going to be fucking mad at you for the rest of your life."

"Shit... that's a long time." He sighed, putting his hands under Levi's thighs and quickly picking his short boyfriend up. "I guess I'm just going to make you forgive me."

"Hey! Put me down you idiot! You don't get the privilege of holding me when I'm mad." Levi thrashed his legs a little bit before he was thrown on the bed. "What do you think you are doing?"

[name] pouted, crawling up the bed and lying down next to him, wrapping his arms around his waist and hugging him closely. "I've had a pretty rough day and just want to cuddle with my extremely gorgeous and caring boyfriend. May I have permission to do that?"

Levi grumbled under his breath, keeping his eyes away from him, knowing that if he looked, he would give in and he wasn't about to do that, not without a fight at least.

"How much more grovelling do I have to do? Because I will go all night." He just really wanted Levi to forgive him. He didn't want to admit it, but today really did scare him. He was inches away from that titans teeth and if Levi hadn't grabbed him in that last second, he would have been chomped in half, meeting the same fate as so many of the others who had perished. He was lucky to be alive, he wasn't denying that. Levi's back was facing him and he sat up, resting his chin on the Ackerman's shoulder. "You know I love you more than anything else in this world right?"

"Yeah... I know. I love you to." He mumbled the last part, though the large smile that spread across [name]'s face, meant he definitely had heard him. "I think I'm just gonna go for a walk." He stood up, leaving the other man on the bed feeling cold. "I'll be back later." He didn't wait for an answer and left the room. He needed to calm himself down and looking at his boyfriend just makes him know what he could've lost.

He tried to clear his mind as he walked, not even realising how long he had been gone for. It had been at least an hour and he could feel himself start to get exhausted. He leaned his back against one of the walls and squeezed his eyes shut. He promised himself he would never fall in love but look at him now? He hadn't been able to keep that promise.

He knew if he ever lost [name] he would be crushed and he honestly didn't know how he would deal with it, if he would ever be able to deal with it. He meant so much to Levi... he meant everything to him.

But [name] was right, they could lose each other any day now and all that they could do was make each day count. To spend as much time together and love each other as much as they could and just pray that they would get plenty of time to do that. He made his way back to his room, seeing [name] was still awake and sitting up on the bed, staring into space. "You're still awake?"

"I can't sleep unless I have you to cuddle." He answered truthfully. He used to have terrible nights sleep but ever since he and Levi started sharing a bed, he slept like a baby. "How was your walk?"

"I got a lot of thinking done." Levi stripped off from his clothes and climbed into bed, pulling the blankets up to cover both of them. He leaned his head on [name]'s chest and sighed in content as arms wrapped around him, filling him with warmth.

[name] could feel Levi's heartbeat against his chest and he could already feel himself falling asleep with his lover cuddled into his arms. Levi softly traced patterns into his bare chest, feeling his own self falling asleep. He never wanted this to end. He never wanted to sleep without [name] ever again.
