He didn't know what the hell he was doing. See, [name], was many things. Confident was not one of them. So, how he found himself at a party, looking for Paul Lahote to confess his love for him was absolutely insane. He had nearly talked himself out of doing it many times but his best friend was hyping him up the whole time and his confidence was just high enough where he wasn't to terrified.

"Do you even know where he is?"

"He's gotta be here somewhere. Paul never misses a party, especially one with alcohol and fun."

"We've been looking for ages. Maybe he decided to sit this one out?"

"Nope. That's not Paul." She replied, giving her best friend a look. "Stop. We are going to find him and you are going to tell him how you feel. There's no backing out now."

It took another hour before [name] did end up finding the male he had been looking for, sitting outside on his own. He and Paul were already friends so walking up to him and starting a conversation wasn't hard. "What are you doing out here alone? It's pretty fun in there."

"I was actually just waiting for someone. They said they would meet me out here." Paul shrugged. "Since when do you come to parties. Last you told me, books and movies were your kinda thing."

"I'm getting out of my comfort zone. Besides I knew you were going to be here, so how could I resist?" Paul laughed. That was a good sign. He was taking [name]'s flirting well. "Did you want to come inside with me and get a drink? I'm sure you can meet up with your friend later."

"I probably shouldn't. I promised to meet them out here." Paul furrowed his brows and looked down at his phone. Who was this person he was talking about and should [name] be worried? "You can go in though. Don't worry about me."

"Well, actually, there was something I wanted to talk to you about." He walked over and sat down next to Paul with a nervous smile. "Um, it's pretty serious so can you promise me you won't freak out?"

Paul nodded his head but was still looking down at his phone and [name] didn't even know if he was actually listening to him. "Sure, what's going on with you?"

He sighed, "I mean it. It's really serious so could you please put your phone down for two seconds and listen to me?" He tried to sound as normal as possible, not wanting Paul to think he was snapping at him.

Paul bit his lip and put his phone on his lap, looking a little annoyed. "Okay, don't have a bitch fit, what's wrong with you?"

Maybe this wasn't the right time to tell him. Paul didn't seem all that interested in talking to him... "Well, it's just, um..." He trailed off, not all that confident anymore.

"Paul!" A woman's voice called.

Paul jumped up quickly, a smile so big spreading across his lips. He ran forward, wrapping his arms around the girl and lifting her up in a bear hug. The girl smiled back and laughed loudly. [name] tensed up as he watched the exchange. "Paul?" He asked quietly.

Paul either didn't hear him or ignored him as he pulled back from the girl, only leaning back in to kiss her on the lips. Something, that made [name] just want to sink into the chair and never come back up.

"Oh! That's right. [name], this is my imprint, Rachel." Paul wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his side. She looked really nice and sweet but he instantly hated her. How could he not when he would now never have a chance with the one he loved? "Isn't she just gorgeous?" Rachel blushed.

"Yeah..." He looked down at his clenched fists. "I gotta go."

"Didn't you want to tell me something?" Paul asked with a confused expression. "Wasn't it serious?"

"No... no, forget about it. Enjoy your night." He couldn't look at them anymore and walked straight past them, not knowing when or how he was going to get over his love for Paul Lahote.
