Chapter 67: Broke My Heart, Riverdale
Word Count: 684"Can I help you with something?"
Jughead stared back at him with a frown, ringing his hands nervously. They hadn't spoken in so long so for him to just show up at his house out of nowhere was a bit weird. "I was, um, just wondering if we could talk."
"You want to talk? Why? I mean, we haven't talked in ages." [name] narrowed his eyes in suspicion. "What? Are you and your girlfriend fighting or something?" His tone was bitter. He had good reasons for a bitter tone.
He and Jughead used to be closer than anyone else in the world. So close that people actually thought they were dating. Well, they were but they weren't out. Everything had been perfect. [name] was in love with Jughead and he had him. Until Jughead started to hang out with Archie and Betty again, along with the new girl.
Suddenly, [name] was left heart broken with no boyfriend because Jughead broke up with him. Only a couple days later, coming out as dating with Betty. He would be lying if he said his heart didn't use to feel like it was being ripped out of his chest every time he saw them together.
"No. We're fine. I guess, I just missed you." Jughead shrugged, looking up from his hands with a small smile. "We were best friends after all."
He scoffed loudly, "we were allot more than best friends, Jughead. You were everything to me and you broke me heart to go run off into the sunset with Betty Cooper, so excuse me if I don't really want to act like nothing happened between us."
"I'm sorry, okay? I never meant to hurt you. Me and Betty just happened and I hate that I hurt you."
"I don't care! I don't care what you feel. Look, just leave me alone and we can forget this visit ever happened. Trust me, it'll be best for both of us." [name] went to shut the door but Jughead stopped him.
"Please. I just want us to be friends again. I miss you." Jughead looked at him pleadingly.
"Let me ask you something and if you're completely honest with me, we can be friends again... were you ever with Betty when we were still together?"
It was silent for the next couple seconds and Jughead looked down at the floor ashamed. "Yes, I was." His voice was so small that he nearly didn't hear it.
"Thank you for being honest and I guess it's time for me to be honest to. Me and you? Will never, ever be friends and I want you to stay the fuck away from me."
"B-But you said if I was honest that we could be friends."
"I lied. Just like you lied to me." He stepped back into his house. "And you know what? I don't miss you. I don't miss being cheated on and I don't miss being treated like garbage. I have a boyfriend who treats me like I deserve and I don't want you anyone near me. Go back to your perfect girlfriend and perfect friends. You don't get to be selfish and have me in your life as well."
Jughead went to say something but the door was shut in his face. [name] didn't feel one bit of guilt. He actually felt rather happy that he got all that weight off his shoulders. He finally got to say what he wanted to his ex boyfriend.
He went into the living room, getting a text message and he pulled his phone out, smiling when he saw it was a good morning text from his loving boyfriend. Morning, gorgeous. Please tell me you're not busy so we can spend some time together.
He bit his lip and laughed, get your ass over here. Jughead was finally completely forgotten from his mind and he couldn't be more relieved.
