Chapter 148: I'll Be There, Seraph Of The End
Word Count: 1042[name] had known the boy who was named Yuichiro Hyakuya for a while now but he didn't know him. They had spent so much time together yet he didn't know anything about him. He didn't even know his favourite colour. That was going to change today.
He walked around the facility, looking everywhere and trying to find Yuichiro. He had asked around but no one knew where he was either. He made his way to the last spot he hadn't checked, the training room. He opened the door, sighing in relief when he saw the boy training his skills.
"There you are." He said brightly, rushing over to him. "I've been looking for you for ages. I should have checked here first. Of course you would be here."
Yu didn't respond for a couple seconds before asking, "what do you want?"
He sounded harsh but [name] didn't let the attitude affect him. He simply moved closer, grabbing the weapon from Yu's hand. "I wanted to hang out with you. I've been doing a lot of thinking and I realised I don't know anything about you. So, let's talk."
"I don't want to talk." He tried to reach for the weapon but [name] held it out of reach. He was taller so it was pretty easy. "Give it to me now."
"Nope. Not until I get what I want." He laughed and ran backwards, jumping up on one of the tall ledges and placing the weapon beside him. Yu rolled his eyes and walked up to the wall, trying to jump up as well but failing. "Need a hand?"
"Don't laugh. Not all of us can be as tall as you." Yu huffed and grabbed [name]'s outstretched hand, letting him pull him up next to him. "Why do you even want to know about me? Why do you care?"
"Because I'm your friend. You know everything there is to know about me."
"That's because you tell me. It's not like I ask for it."
[name] crossed his arms and leaned back. The ledge they were sitting on was pretty small and it wasn't to comfortable up there with two people. "I'm going to disregard that." He smiled, knocking into him playfully. "Tell me anything."
"I want to kill vampires." A dark look overcame Yu's eyes.
"That is something I know about you." [name] put his chin on his hand. "Is that all you think about all day everyday? Killing vampires?"
"Yes."
This conversation was going to be harder then he originally thought. As they sat next to each other, he did most of the talking. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get a good answer out of the other male. He was beginning to get frustrated, which was a surprise. [name] usually had a lot of patience and never found himself getting annoyed. Yu seemed to be the exception to that.
He kept himself calm as he asked another question, "why don't you tell me how you got here?" The air became tense and Yu stayed silent. [name] wondered if he had just asked a question that was off limits. "I'm sorry. You don't have to answer that."
Yu slowly turned to look at him, his face emotionless. "My family was killed in front of my eyes. I ran and got to safety. Then I was found and brought here. Is that what you wanted to hear? Are you happy now?!" His yelled. "I'm done answering your stupid questions." He jumped off the ledge, storming out of the room.
[name] put his hands up to his face and groaned. "Great job. Now he hates you." That was the opposite of what he wanted to do.
He jumped off the ledge as well, forgetting about the weapon and slowly walking out.
The next couple days he had kept his distance from Yu. He wanted to talk to him so badly but he knew he needed to give him space or he would just upset him again. He walked around the facility in silence. He liked to take walks by himself. It gave him time to think. He walked up to the roof and found a spot to sit down, enjoying the breeze that blew against his skin.
He turned as he heard footsteps behind him and frowned when he saw Yu. "Hey."
Yu jumped, having not seen him. "Oh, hi."
Cue the awkward silence. "I can leave if you want to be alone."
He went to stand up but Yu stopped him, grabbing his shoulder and pushing him back down. "It's okay. You don't have to avoid me anymore." He sat down next to him, shoulder to shoulder. "I'm sorry for snapping at you the other day. I just don't like being asked about my past."
"No. You had every right. I was pushing you. I should have backed off when you asked me to." He turned, looking at Yu with a smile. "I don't realise how annoying I can be sometimes."
"You're not annoying. You're sweet." Yu blushed as he said it, glancing at him. He had always been confused about how he felt for [name]. At first he thought he just wanted to be friends but the past couple days of feeling guilty about snapping at him, he realised it was more then that.
[name] had no idea about his feelings and he wanted to keep it that way. In the world they lived in, relationships and distractions weren't a good idea.
"You know you can talk to me about anything. I won't judge and I'll keep my mouth shut." [name] said when he noticed how silent Yu had become and his expression become distant. "I'll be there for you. I always am. No matter what."
He lifted his arm and put it around Yu's shoulder in a friendly hug.
Yu nodded before leaning his head on his shoulder. "I know but for now, I really just want to stay up here with you. Tell me one of your silly stories."
So that's what he did and the two stayed up on the roof in each others arms until the sun went down.
