Midoriya's POV
I was surprised when Todoroki said that he wouldn't make me eat more than the six bites I took. I stood up and followed him, my tray in hand. Todoroki put his tray down, moving so I could do the same. I felt awful as I wasted the rest of the soup. Todoroki held his hand just behind his body, extended out, beckoning me to grab a hold. I did so happily as I felt the temperature difference of our hands send goosebumps scattering around my arms and back.
"Do you have a specific place you want to go or anything you need?" Todoroki asked, pulling me a bit closed as we walked down the corridor. "Oh, I um, well, uh." I stumbled on my words, feeling slightly embarrassed that I needed more bandages even though I bought more just recently. "You know, never mind. You have anywhere you want to go?" I asked, deciding that I would just buy them on my own time. "Not particularly. Though, I did notice that you need more bandages for your dorm. " Todoroki replied, keeping his eyes on where he was walking as I flinched and looked at him, surprised.
"Don't act so surprised. I did help you clean and cover your-" I panicked and slapped my hand over Todoroki's mouth, knowing he was going to say something about my cuts. I immediately felt horrible as the sound that accompanied the slap was loud. I did the only thing I could think of as I quickly let go of Todoroki's warm hand, keeping the one that I slapped him with on his face. I got on my tippy-toes, cupping my free hand on his neck as I kissed my knuckles, feeling heat rush to my face.
I stepped back almost as soon as my lips met my hand, looking down at the colored tile. "I didn't mean to smack you. I just panicked and my hand moved and then I heard to noise it made and felt bad and so I kissed my hand and I got really close to you. Ah! I'm really sorry." I rushed out, playing with my fingers as I kept my head down, eyes on the floor. That is until two cold fingers slipped under my chin, lifting my face to look at Todoroki, who gave me a light kiss on the nose. "It's okay, you didn't hurt me. The sound was only as loud as it was because you cupped your hand, calm down." Todoroki whispered, leaning is forehead on mine.
"O-Oh, okay." I mumbled, still embarrassed and feeling a bit guilty. Todoroki's hand ended up finding mine again, pulling my fingers on my right hand away from the base of my fingers and back of my left hand, spreading my fingers apart as he slid his in between. "Let's go." Todoroki said, gently pulling me into a parents shop, going for the first-aid supplies. I watched as Todoroki's duel colored eyes scanned the aisle, his hair ever so slightly hanging in his face.
"Which brand do you normally get?" Todoroki suddenly asked, pointing at a shelf cover in bandages. "Oh, uh. Those." I replied, pointing to the brand that had the red logo. Todoroki didn't respond as he let go of my hand, grabbing a few four packs. "I don't think I'll need that many." I murmured to myself as I watched Todoroki grab four packs of four, being sixteen total. "Well, this brand is a non-stick, so we can use it if someone sprains an ankle and refuses to see Recovery Girl." Todoroki responded, pointing to the the white 'non-stick' lettering.
"Okay." I replied, grabbing onto Todoroki's sleeve as we made our way to the register. "Someone get hurt?" The cashier asked, keeping the conversation light. "No, he's just clumsy and we never seem to have enough." Todoroki replied, with a straight face. "Oh yeah?" The cashier laughed as he continued go ring us up. "That'll be 2,917.94 yen (26.42 USD)." The man at the counter smiled, giving me my total. Just as I was moving to get my wallet, Todoroki flipped out a credit card, swiping before I could even argue.
"Todo, that's not fair. I didn't even have a chance." I complained, pouting slightly at the taller teen. "Yeah, and? That's the point." Todoroki replied, grabbing the bag and then my hand. "Fine, be that way." I grumbled as we walked out and back into the hall. We were window shopping for a while. We ended up getting Erasure Head, President Mic, Orca Gang, and All might merch. "You really like heroes, don't you?" Todoroki asked as we walked away with quite the amount of stuff. "Yeah, but remember, I did tell you walking into places like that was a disaster in the making." I reminded, pointing at him teasingly.
"Yeah, this is my own fault." Todoroki smiled as he looked between the bags we were both carrying. "Yeah, I didn't realize they came out with new All Might merch though." I said, smiling as I looked into one of the bags at the limited edition All Might figurine. "About that, what's going on with All Might and your self? You two seem distant as of late." Todoroki asked, making my step halter. "Well..."
Flashback Start
Mom's funeral had just ended and I had cried so much before then, I couldn't cry there. Most of the people had left or were leaving. The Bakugo's, All Might, and I were the only ones still there when it started raining. I thought it was a total cliché when then rain started, softly at first. I stood there as I watched the casket be lowered into the ground. My eyes burned but no tears formed or fell. I felt so much pain, but the screams and sobs were left broken. The dirt fell, a resounding thud shattered my heart as I broke down.
I felt my knees go weak as I started falling, never hitting the wet ground as I landed into the arms of the skeleton version of All might. "Young Midoriya. I know how hard this is, but why don't we get out of the rain?" The deep voice that All Might carried didn't help at all. It made me feel as if all was lost. I slowly stood, refusing the help of the older blonde.
"Young Midoriya, do you have a place to stay tonight? I'm not sure your apartment would be the best." All Might asked, worry woven into every word. "I'm fine." I couldn't help but be a bit bitter. "Are you sure? You're mom just die-" I didn't want to hear it, so I screamed. "I said I'm Fine! Just... Just leave me alone." I was angry and walked home, my suit feeling heavier and heavier as the rain soaked it up.
I missed the entire next week of school, locking myself in my apartment. I laid in bed for the majority of that week, having no motivation to do anything. Kacchan being the one to drag me out of my room to hang out with him at his place. Once I had returned to school, I just told people I was sick, not wanting to admit that my own mother was killed before my eyes. At the end of school, All Might came up to me, immediately bringing up my mom and what happened at the funeral.
I continued walking, barely stopping when I was shoulder to shoulder to the thin man. "I remember asking you to leave me alone."
Flashback End
"Thinking back, I feel bad. I mean, he's left me alone, but I shouldn't have said that." I finished explaining as we walked into the food court, ordering some Boba tea before sitting down at a table. "So, does he know what all's happened recently?" Todoroki asked, seemingly quite curious about our relationship. "I mean, I doubt he doesn't know. I bet he has other teachers or staff tell him about what's been going on." I replied, speaking my mind.
"Hm, okay." Todoroki said, sipping his tea as he leaned back on his chair, letting his eyes close. Taking a closer look, he has slight bags under his eyes. "Tired?" I asked before I could even think. Todoroki opened his eyes, looking at me before giving me a small smile. "A little. Nothing too bad." Todoroki responded before standing up and sitting next to me. He rested his head on my shoulder, sighing comfortably. "I'm just going to rest here for a bit." Todoroki mumbled, sounding very tired. I didn't respond, just letting the half n' half teen doze on my shoulder.
I took out my phone, taking a picture of us, me holding the Boba tea in my hand, straw in my mouth while smiling. Todoroki didn't have to smile, he was beautiful all without even trying. I grinned widely as I sent it to the group chat between Mic, Erasure, Todo, and I.
