The Devilman's Epiphany ✔️

XXXI- I think they're working on something together.

We had to come back to work next day since Rex was busy and I felt like I was walking on thin ice around him. I feel like I could just burst out a I love you any second. I don't know why I'm so scared to say it but I know I have no reason to be. Today I saw my mom and Leonardo at the front entrance as I trained the crudes. Rex didn't want me to work again yet but I didn't listen, as usual. Carmelo was also still here and he really liked talking to me for some reason.

I saw Rex go out of his office to greet my mom and Leonardo. "Fifteen minutes!" I yelled before grabbing my water bottle and watching them as I drank. I saw my mom stop which made Leonardo and Rex stop walking as well. She searched for me and when her eyes finally landed on me she motioned me to go there.

I walked hesitantly next to her and just stared as I waited for her to say or do something. Rex put his hands in his pockets to hide his fists. I walked in front of her to show some kind of confidence. "You escaped?" She asked. I guess she meant the time when I was kidnapped. "Once yeah. I almost escaped that one time as well. I was drugged though." I waited for her to yell or hit me, maybe even spit but she just crossed her arms in front of me and sighed. "I'm proud of you." I got taken aback.

How many times have I imagined for this to happen?

I wanted a sign of appreciation from my mom all my life but when it finally came...

I wish she didn't open her mouth again.

This is what she's proud of me for. Not finishing high school all on my own. Not, not killing myself and tolerating her but this.

Not getting killed.

I nodded and backed off so she could walk forward but she didn't. "Arabella." I heard Rex and saw him mentioning me to come to his side which I gladly followed. I wanted to hold on to him because I wanted to hurt my mom so bad in this moment.

"I have to get back." I muttered and he nodded before walking to his office with the others following behind. My happiness really does not last long. It's always my mother who ruins it. "Hey." Carmelo leaned to the ropes as I told everyone trainings over. "What?" I said and walked over to him. His smile dropped before a smirk replaced his expression. "Wow. Is that how you talk to everyone?" I nodded before grabbing my water bottle. "You want me to treat you special? Aww." I pouted before taking a sip. He laughed before looking away. "I was just about to grab lunch." He muttered and I nodded. "Okay." I said before jumping off the rink. He followed behind me fast.

"I was thinking you could join me." He said as we walked beside me. Uh, no. Absolutely not. "Ohh. I can't." I said like I had something planned. "Why? You promised Rex? I didn't know you enjoyed being around him." He said and I faked a grimace. "I'd rather die than speak to him."

More like, I would die If I never spoke to him again.

"I just..." I looked in front of me and a excuse was there.

"I promised Cameron." I grinned at Cameron when he looked at me with wide eyes. "He said he needed to tell me something and we became like best buddies after I joined here. I can't just bail on him." I said before shrugging and Carmelo nodded. "Another time then, beautiful." He gave me a small smile before walking away.

I bolted next to Cameron.

"What-.." He choked on the sandwich he was chewing on. "I fucking hate... everything. Yeah." I leaned on the table and Cameron started laughing. He wheezed till I threw him the bottle of water that was in the table. He wiped tears from his eyes before looking back at me. "Best buddies-..." His voice cracked before he started laughing again. I rolled my eyes before biting my lip to not smile at my stupidity.

"Oh god. You just made my entire week." He cleared his throat and I went to get myself some lunch before joining him again. He finally calmed down. "Why is he around you all the time anyway? It's creepy." I sighed before taking a bite. "I don't know. Rex doesn't like it but he can't do anything. You know why." I said after finishing. "What if he asks you for lunch tomorrow?" Cameron asked after he finished his food and I looked around. "I'm just going to be bold. I don't give two shits about hurting him. Mentally or physically." I muttered and he nodded.

"You can't blame him though." Cameron said and I narrowed my eyes. "You're oblivious with male attention. All the male crudes talk about you, hell it's even getting on my nerves. If Rex over hears them one time it's over." He chuckled and I bit my lip. They talk about me? "What are they talking about? Don't tell me the dirty parts." He raised his eyebrows. "That's all they talk about though." I grimaced as he smirked.

"So. You liked my cabin house? How was the bed? Comfortable?" He said and I couldn't keep my smile in. "Shut the fuck up, Cameron." He widened his eyes. "Did you do it? Oh my god." He rested his head on his fists as he looked at me curiously and I shook my head. "We just talked." I said and he huffed. "My ass. If all you did was just talk then I'm a fucking virgin." What's wrong with being a virgin? I wanted to say it out loud but so thought better of it. "I still wouldn't tell you even if we did it so..." I rolled my eyes before I finished my food. I saw my mother and Leonardo leave and Cameron also watched. "They look pissed." I muttered and Cameron agreed.

I saw Rex looking at me and he narrowed me to come to his room. "You should go. I'll get these." he pointed at the trash and I nodded before walking. "No thank you? Wow. Toxic people all around me"

Cameron mumbled sassily and I smiled as I walked.  Rex just walked to his office as I caught up to him. He stopped walking after I got in the room and closed the door before locking it. He sighed tiredly, looking sexy as ever.

I walked in front of him and he dropped his gaze to me.

"They're pissed." I threw my arms around his shoulders. "I'm aware." I said before kissing his cheek. He stumbled before continuing. He grabbed my waist with both hands.

"I didn't... I didn't do anything to piss them off, at all." I hummed as I kissed his lips then pulled back.

"Stop distracting me." He let out a laugh as I kissed his neck. "I think they know somethings-... Arabella, I'm telling you something about our parents-" I kissed his lips again making him sigh into the kiss.

"I don't want to know." I mumbled against his lips and he kissed me again before smiling against my lips. I pulled back and walked to his seat before sitting on his chair. "Okay then. Tell me." I said and he narrowed his eyes. "You're the only person who I'd ever let sit on my chair. Much less use anything that belongs to me." He admitted as he leaned on the desk in front of me.

"I'm so fluttered." I smiled as I touched my heart and he laughed. "You're the only one who I'd let inside my heart as well." He said making it sound better now. "Same goes for you but let's cut down the romance or I'm going to gag." I said and he smiled before explaining again. "I think they're working on something together. I don't know if I want to find out. They're hanging out together a lot and I don't think all they do is fuck."
