The Devilman's Epiphany ✔️

XLIII- I'm a changed man

I thought to myself before bed and just decided to text Rex. I knew Leonardo wouldn't be able to look into his phone. I was curious about what the blonde girls deal was and was dying to ask someone all day. He told me Leonardo suggested he'd make connections with other people and that ended up with him getting another fiancé.

Great.

I went kind of crazy and bombarded him with questions. He said the girl lives in his house, my old room to be exact and really trying to get into his pants.

That was very thrilling to find out to say the least.

I think he's mentioned he misses me only about a thousand times. I wish he'd say something more hurtful so I'd be angry and not hurt that I miss him a lot as well. I also found out he'll be taking that tramp to the bar looking underground place we used to go and a idea popped into my head. Next morning Will and Cameron both went to work together like they usually do.

I took the time to note down a few names of the people I remember when I worked with mom for hours.

"You've locked yourself up all day, baby." I narrowed my eyes and bolted up from my bed. How did I get here? "Rex?" I called out for him. "Yes love?"

Love?

Rex never calls me that.

I felt him behind me and he wrapped his arms around my waist before resting his head on my shoulder. "You smell really good." I stumbled and my eyes widened.

"How did you get here?" He smiled at me sweetly. Damn his dimples. "I-..." I heard a noise from downstairs and so did he. I guess that's why he stopped. He let go of me and held onto his waistband as he pointed one finger up, telling me to be quiet and stay here. "Rex, don't go..." I whispered but he had already walked downstairs. I haven't heard anything till a loud gun shot startled me. "Rex." I whispered into the darkness. "Bella." I heard the voice and raised my eyebrows. "Where are you?!" I asked and swung my arms around to see if she's anywhere close to me.

"I'm in your head." I narrowed my eyes and gasped when the lights flickered open. A heavy body was pushed to the ground by a man. "Rex!" I yelled as my voice cracked. I turned him around and couldn't see his face from my glossy eyes. "No!" I checked a pulse. "I warned you." The person said like a now it all. Like it was okay that he just... He just murdered his son. The love of my fucking life. I couldn't look up to him. "Y- You.." I touched Rex's face and felt like throwing up. "I've been planning this with your mother, Arabella. You should've been more careful." He whispered the last sentence.

That's what I remember before bolting up from my desk. Just a bad dream.

But it felt so real.

I took some time to calm my breath and pushed the sweaty hair away from my face. I wasn't going to shower but now I feel like I need one. I did my makeup afterwards and decided to look formal since now I had to meet people. I wore leather pants, a black tank top and a large coat. I just decided to go all black and wore black boots. I almost forgot to put on Rex's necklace before walking out. I came across with Cameron and William on the porch.

"What the fuck." I heard William whisper. "Okay let's get one thing straight." William pointed his finger up at me. "I should be the pretty best friend. You need to let me have at least that, okay?" I narrowed my eyes before smiling at him. "Oooh. Where are you going?" Cameron leaned to the door after walking behind me. I explained to him my plan and he raised his eyebrows. "Alright. I'll drive you." I shook my head but he insisted so I couldn't really do anything.

"I'd start talking to River if I were you." I narrowed my eyes at him. "You and her are on first name basis?" He smirked at me and I just grimaced. "What? She'll like you as long as she doesn't see me with you." He muttered. "Why would she be jealous of me? You have a boyfriend." He rolled her eyes. "Didn't end well alright. She hates me." I looked at him with disgust now. "Never saw you as a cheater." He shrugged.

"I'm a changed man."

"Is that her? She looks different than the pictures." I asked Cameron after walking in and he nodded before ordering a drink for us. I knew it was her because of her red hair and blue eyes. I made eye contact with her and she winked at me with a smirk.

That's my cue.

I walked over to her confidently and she smiled as I sat next to her. "Arabella." She raised her hand for me to shake. I raised one of my eyebrows. "Didn't think you'd know me." I took her hand and shook it before dropping mine. "Everyone knows you here, baby. You've made quite the threat to everyone a month and a half ago." I nodded realising that it was actually a really big deal that I killed Kristina.

"You and I understand each other very clearly now then." I made a remark before finishing my champagne and she crooked her head to the side before smiling. "Yeah. Our parents are assholes but look where that got us." She nudged my shoulder and I smirked before looking away. My eyes caught Rex's before he looked away. He had that blonde with him expectedly. "Wasn't that your man? Everyone was talking about that." I narrowed my eyes.

"It was an arranged marriage." We couldn't even get married before everything crumbled down. Not that I want to get married. "Yeah but... They just don't have the same energy." She said and I looked at her curiously so she could keep going. "You and Rex are like fire on fire. Everything just screams passion when I look at you two. Both are impossible to tame but perfect for each other at the same time with the same chaotic energy." Wow. I didn't realise that.

"You know I thought I'd have to kiss ass to make friends with you." River rested her hand on her chest as she looked at me offendedly. "Look at everyone here. Can you blame me?" She laughed and nodded. "So what now? Starting over?" I nodded and she also nodded understandingly. "She's coming over." I raised my head and saw the blonde girl again. "Hey, I think you're River Ryder." She extended her hand and River surprisingly didn't take it.

I like her.

I'm kind of being toxic but I'm too damaged to care.

"Alright." She said unimpressed and the girl stumbled. "My names Jennifer. I'm engaged with Rex Rosetti." I accidentally snorted while laughing which made River cover her mouth. "I just don't think that's a thing you can show off. Been there, done that." I said and she looked at me angrily. "Who cares what you think? Didn't he drop you anyway?" I nodded before getting another drink from the waiter. I didn't think River would be such a cool person since she's also known to be heartless. I mean that's how you gotta' be when you own people.

"How was doing him?" River turned to me seriously and I bit my lip at her face. "Honestly, sixty nine out of ten, would do it again." I said and she raised her eyebrows before nodding. "I see." 'Jennifer' left after saying stuff under her breath and River laughed along with me. "I feel drunk. I didn't even drink that much." I said before leaning back. "You know, I don't even know you but I don't laugh with people like that. You're forced to be my friend now." I narrowed my eyes as I looked at her. "Duh?" I saw the little smile Rex sent my way.

"Such a downgrade, makes me wanna' wipe a tear." She said before leaning back with me. "He didn't have a choice." I said before folding my arms. River has a eyebrow raised. I mean... Leonardo knows already. Does it matter if everyone else knows?

No.

"His father found out about us actually wanting to be with each other. Then he had to drop me and see someone else. He's trying to overplay his father and I don't know how to help. It's killing me." I finally said it to someone and sighed.

I came here to talk about business. I just realised.

"Really? That fucking sucks. I wish someone would fight for me." She said sadly. Deep down I feel like we were kind of alike. Like doesn't want a relationship but it hurts other people live in what they crave. "I'm here if you need anything." She said making me widen my eyes. "Why?" I mean, we just met.

"Let's just say I support deep, passionate love." She said before wiping a fake tear and I laughed after throwing my head back.
