New Feelings

"Again!" Chan shouted across the room as I got back into my position.

Chan was making us check our mistakes but instead of him telling us what's wrong, we have to figure it out. It wasn't easy at all, we've been practicing for about 3 hours now.

It's reasonable though because in four days we would have to face JYP again, I wasn't ready. After the first evaluation I felt my confidence decrease and I didn't know how to get it back. I mean I placed 7th and the cut off? I want Nina and Yuna to make it as well, they were probably the only ones I trusted them fairly.

"Alright, take a break." Chan stopped the music as we panted harshly.

I open the door and walk down the hall, I look into another room and see Felix. My eyes grew wider in excitement, I wanted to see him mentor other trainees! Except that I see him getting close with Mako, she's laughing at his joke and he pats her on the back. They look like they're having fun, my smile fades as I walked past their room and stand in front of the vending machine.

I placed some money into the machine and began to pile up snacks, of course the machine has healthier snacks which was a bummer! I heard some giggles come from behind which started my concentration, I managed to turn around and I see Mako and Felix a few feet behind me.

"Oh! Hi, you must be Alaska!" Mako faced me and smiled brightly.

"Y-Yeah." I stammered. "Hello, you must be Mako."

"Hello!" Felix shot me a smile.

"Hi Felix." I shot him back a small smile before turning around and getting my snacks in order.

"Felix, so we'll meet up at midnight right?" Mako talked to Felix which made me feel uncomfortable.

Its like I can't help but listen to their conversation, it made me feel nosy.

I took my snacks and didn't spare them a glance as I jogged down the hall, what are they going to do at midnight?

I was planning to go to the convenience store as well, I guess Felix won't be there.

"Thank you!" Nina took the drink from my hands and Yuna took the snacks.

"No problem." I brushed away the thoughts and looked at Chan who looked at me with a concerned look.

I sat on the ground and ate quietly, why was this problem bothering me so much? I shouldn't even care, I should be focusing on improving!

I spent almost 15 hours practicing yesterday and the days before that was even worse, my sleeping schedule is messed up...

"Alaska, what's going on?" Chan asked and sat next to me on the ground.

"Huh?" I look up and meet his eyes.

"You've been out of it these past days, are you too tired?" Chan looked really concerned so he pat my head to comfort me.

"I'm not! I just.." I trailed off, I didn't want to make it seem like I was clingy to Felix but I think I am.

"I won't tell anyone." Chan stuck out his pinky. "I promise."

"Fine." I locked out pinkys and then began to pour out how I felt. "I haven't been spending that much time with Felix, we used to hang out a lot especially because he was my mentor but I see we might just go our separate ways. He is the only one I truly trust here, I would go to him for anything."

Chan listened carefully and nodded his head which really made me feel a lot better, he actually cared about me.

"I've seen him hanging out with other trainees and I'm just getting a message that he'll end up wanting to stay closer to them than me, he convinced me to come here. He gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed to keep trying, I feel like that'll go away so fast." I confessed. "I don't want to make it sound like I'm clingy in any way! I guess I just miss him."

"Alaska." Chan chuckled. "Your feelings are so valid and I can see what you mean. For me when a member is distant because of schedules I know I can see them in dorm because we are a group but you and Felix aren't. I'm friends with Sana from Twice and we still manage to text each other and talk on the phone every week!"

"Really? Isn't that hard?" I asked.

"Well of course it is because our schedules are different and we aren't in the same division, as long as we tried to keep our friendship and put in the same effort then it'll work out." Chan explained and got up.

"I guess I can try that.. Thank you." I smiled and got up from the floor as well.

And then we were back to practicing.
