"Hello." My group greeted in Korean bowed as a girl stepped into our dorm.
"Hello." The girl replied back in Korean with a huge smile. "I'm your new manager!"
We cheered and clapped as she started to inform us on more about her and what we have to do when she's around. So today she was picking us up to head to the company building, the van was waiting for us outside. It was exciting!
"Woah." Aaliyah placed a hand on her mouth as we all entered the van.
There was space for us to walk into the back seats and the windows were tinted so no one would be able to see inside.
"So you speak english too?" I asked our manager as the van started to move, of course she didn't drive it though.
"Yes! I've studied abroad and learned the language while I stayed in America." She smiled. "I forgot to mention, my name is Sua."
"Well, I don't know much Korean and some members also aren't that familiar so I'm sorry if we use english for the most part." I apologized.
"That's okay! I studied for this, I'm going to try to make you all comfortable and settled." She smiled and handed us packets. "Here is your debut info."
I flipped through the packet and looked at the models and concept ideas, we had a song already picked out which I failed to tell the members.
I wrote the song and produced it, but it's not a big deal and if anything I hope it would stay a secret so if it didn't turn out good then I wouldn't be embarrassed.
"Oh my god." Rima gasped as she showed us one of the pages. "We're doing a girl crush concept!"
I chuckled at their reactions, it seems like the song already is sending some bold vibes.
The title track was called, "Won't even miss you."
It reflects on not just me but the to her experiences of the trainees in my group, we did get through the survival show and most of them spent their lives training. But the period isn't pretty and the meaning is centered on it. Yes, we did the survival show and yes we did gain popularity for it but at the end of the day it still harmed us more than do us good and for that we will not miss it.
The lyrics were brutal & straightforward, it reveals your true colors and I hope that my group can show their true colors and talent through this debut.
"Is this box braids? What the hell?" I accidently say a little too aggressively.
"Uh, yeah? Do you not like it?" Sua frowned at my reaction.
"Sua, I'm not black I cannot be wearing this. If you want you can give that hairstyle to Aaliyah who is but none of the other members including me can wear it." I explained as I take a marker and cross out the photo.
"Oh— But why? What does race have to do with this? So many idols have been seen wearing it, they're not black and also your hairstylist claims it's a very beautiful and popular hairstyle—"
"It's cultural appropriation. Please tell her to do her research and to find another hairstyle for Alaska." Aaliyah explained. "Alaska isn't black and for her to be using a black hairstyle which is our culture.. It won't sit right with me and also the public, trust me."
I nodded at Aaliayah's words, I would rather not debut than to debut with box braids in my hair just to fit some "concept". Now I'm worried about the stylists I'll have.
"Right. I'm so sorry girls, I'll text the stylist right now and explain. If she doesn't want to budge then I'll let Psy know I fired her." Sua nodded as she took our her phone.
Woah. It was that easy? I can't believe it. I thought they were going to pressure me into wearing it, thank god I stood my ground. I'm terrified now, I really hope this problem doesn't occur and I would hate for a stylist to get fired but I'm not going to get dragged for something I could've said no to.
A bullet dodged today.

"I won't even miss you! I can't just kiss you, thinking about all the faded lies! Tell me your story, oh did you adore me? Run back to the shady vibes." Nina sang into the microphone at the studio.
"Nina, at the part where you sing thinking just say around half the word and don't add the ng to it, it'll fit better." I pushed the button so that she could hear me in her headset.
Nina turned to me and nodded as I repeated her part again, this time she got it right. After Nina it would be Yuna's turn, the instrument unit already finished recording their sounds for the sing so they were chilling in the studio with me and another producer.
I can't believe I was working with another producer, it was so exciting to be working with someone on music.
"You're doing pretty good, I think her clip was good but I think we should focus on the rap even more carefully." Jacob; the producer, said. "Rima's part might have to do a redo because I can't really understand what she's trying to say. She's kind of slurring her words."
I played Rima's part again and understood what he meant, she needed to relax her mouth because she was definitely slurring her words.
"Okay Yuna, thank you. Rima you're up next." I say after we did Yuna's part.
"Again? What part?" Rima looked at us confused as she walked into the recording booth.
"Your rap was a bit too chaotic, try to relax your mouth and say the rap a bit more carefully. We can't understand your full words because you're not pronouncing it right." I explained.
"Ah crap, sorry." She apologized as she practiced the rap.
"When you say, no parents, no friends, no rules out to save me, it's okay to have a bit of an accent but say the full word. With save me, you pronounced it with a B rather than a V which throws it off." I tell her and she nods her head.
I didn't have time record my parts because I already had before any of the girls, I did the demos of course which is understandable.
After recording we were sort of exhausted, each girl had to try to get their parts perfect like 3-5 times.
Either way I was excited for our single to drop, it's not an album yet but at least it's something.
