MARCH
Noon
[Jo's house]
*Jo was home alone, sitting on the couch whilst reading a magazine. There was a knock at the door, and she got up to open it. It was a middle aged man with a work uniform on. He held a big bouquet of flowers.*
Jo: Uh...
Man: Are you... Jo Simmons?
Jo: Uh huh...
Man: Here you go.
Jo: Thanks. Uh- what are these for?
Man: You.
Jo: No- right, I see that but um... why?
Man: I don't know, lady. I just deliver flowers.
Jo: Right, sorry. But-
Man: Did you check the card?
Jo: There's a card?!
*She reached in the bouquet and pulled out a small slip of paper.*
Jo: "My deepest condolences, Sue will be missed."
Man: Sounds like a loss.
Jo: Oh! That explains the letter I got in the mail yesterday about how someone died. But I could barely read it because some old lady wrote it in sloppy cursive. *gasp* You know what! I bet it's about my great aunt Sue! Oh my. My great aunt Sue died!
Man: Oh. I'm sorry-
Jo: She was a terrible old woman. I'm surprised she was still alive. I mean... thank you.
*Jo's neighbor, Robin, overheard some of that and came walking over.*
Robin: Jo?
Jo: Yeah?
Robin: Did I hear you say someone died?
Jo: Oh yeah. My great aunt Sue.
Robin: Oh honey, I am so sorry.
Jo: No, it's-
Robin: Here, you don't need to worry about paying for food right now. I don't have time to cook anything but here is something to get you started.
*Robin slipped Jo one hundred dollars.*
Jo: Oh my-
Robin: You call me if you need anything.
Jo: I will, thank you.
*Robin walked away.*
Jo: Can you please this!
Man: Uh... no?
Jo: Me neither!
*Jo laughed and then walked back inside.*
The Same Time
[the plaza]
*Steven and Nancy were sitting on the couches at the plaza.*
Nancy: Okay, so I wanted to talk to you.
Steven: Alright.
Nancy: Well, more like ask you something.
Steven: Shoot.
Nancy: So, I don't have a dad.
Steven: Yeah.
Nancy: And even though you're not my dad, you're kind of like a dad to me... I guess. What I'm trying to say is... you're my very best friend in the whole world. And I would love it if you walked me down the aisle at my wedding.
*Steven's face lit up.*
Steven: Seriously!
Nancy: Uh huh! What do you say?
