OCTOBER
Night
[Nancy and Nathan's house]
*Nancy was in the bathroom mirror, getting ready for bed. While Nathan was already in bed reading a book.*Nancy: You know what I realized?
Nathan: What?
Nancy: Ever since I got back from tour, we haven't done anything fun.
Nathan: What do you mean? We've watched movies, we've gone to coffee shops, we've-
Nancy: Those are all boring things. I mean they've been fun because I missed you and everyone, but still. Don't you wanna do something exciting?
Nathan: We do exciting things all the time. Or... we used to.
Nancy: Exactly.
*Nancy was finished and she got in bed next to him.*
Nancy: We used to... chase each other through airports, and-
Nathan: That was one time.
Nancy: And we went to a ball, and we danced at the Orange County fair, and we-
Nathan: We definitely had a lot more going on then.
Nancy: It's not that, I have so much going on right now. But it's all work stuff. It's not you stuff. Before my career got super serious, all I did was spend my time with my friends and write about it. But now it's so much more. I miss when I actually ran my own instagram account. And it wasn't my team. I don't know, I guess... I love my life now but sometimes I miss things the way they used to be.
Nathan: Alright. Tomorrow we'll spend the whole day together and everyone else. We'll even dance in the middle of the plaza.
Nancy: I can't tomorrow. I'm going over protocols for my music video.
Nathan: Okay, well how about thursday?
Nancy: Can't. I might be able to squeeze you in on Friday for a couple of hours?
Nathan: I'm filming that day.
Nancy: You know what, tomorrow it is. Don't worry, I'll work some things out.
Nathan: Great. What do you want to do?
Nancy: Do you realize that we have the power to break the internet?
Nathan: That is true. Do you actually want to do that?
Nancy: Depends what we do.
Nathan: We could announce your pregnancy?
Nancy: Not yet. I'm... just not ready.
Nathan: Why not?
*Nancy took a deep breath.*
Nancy: If something happened to the baby, we'd have to tell them too.
Nathan: Nance, are you scared from last time?
Nancy: A little. I'm sorry, it's just-
Nathan: Don't be. It's okay. But I promise you, nothing is going to happen to this one.
Nancy: You can't promise that.
Nathan: But I can promise that it'll all be okay? Can't I?
Nancy: If something happens to this baby, nothing will be okay.
Nathan: Look at what the doctor said yesterday. Everything's looking great. Don't spend your whole pregnancy worrying about that. It's completely out of your control.
Nancy: Yeah. I guess you're right. Still not ready to tell them.
Nathan: We won't.
*Nathan held Nancy's hand and smiled.*
